Boxer - good to know for next time. I use a widescreen laptop (800 pixels wide) and I don't have that problem, so I was simply oblivious to it. DJ & Kristy - his load was pretty stable. I chose to ride behind because it humored me to watch him roll down the road Fred Sanford style. I actually co...
Thanks for the comments, folks! It was a blast... Mormon crickets, eh? There was a 5 mile stretch of 50 in NV that had me dodging large black flying insects left and right. I hit one or two, and they were extreeeeeemely juicy. I wonder if these were those fabled crickets? I was glad to get past them...
On Saturday, June 24 a friend and I set out from Colorado on a 10-day wandering toward the west coast and back. We had no real plan or route – our only agenda was to see as many sights (and miles) as we could comfortable squeeze in while camping every night. I hope that you enjoy this brief e...
I had a feeling that's what it was...I was in Home Depot about a week ago looking at the same thing, but I couldn't think of how to mount it. How funny is that? Someone that thinks like me...wow, I feel sorry for you I think you have motivated me to finish out the idea as well.
I just had new tires put on today and had the mechanic (he only works on BMWs...and he had an R1150R before) throw a quick eyeball on the screen installation. Turns out one of the rear PITA mounting brackets was a smidge loose. Halelujah - NO MORE WIGGLE!
What the heck is that thing next to your left system case (tube shaped object)? Looks like a fly rod case. I just lost my can and would like to make use of that now empty space...
I have the BMW touring windshield and just wondered, from those of you out there similarly equipped, does it wiggle much at highway speeds from wind, bumps, etc?
Great post, Krisi! Makes me miss living in Texas (not that I want to give up Colorado just yet). I think 'roos have been in Texas for some time. I went to college in Texas at a small private school, Austin College (in Sherman). It was established in 1849 and our mascot was - you guessed it - the kan...
MikeCam: I wish my wife would let me get a Roadcrafter. Unfortunately, I am certain "Congress" would not approve the funding on that one. Boxer: Your observation on the Frogg Toggs is very informative. I know that with some of the laminated clothing materials, washing can be destructive to...
rock712: where the heck did you find such a good deal??
TonyT607: that is the suit i have been considering...just a bit pricey for me, so i am really leaning towards the frogg toggs. did you get yours below list?
As a daily commuter (45 miles one way) in Colorado, I can say that they are worth a look. Heck, they saved my life just yesterday. I have had other bikes without and have locked both wheels at times. I doubt I will every go without (at least for my main commuter/travel bike). 2 cents...
Sounds like Frog Toggs are the way to go when cost is a factor. I have some older The North Face Gore-Tex stuff, but I don't think it is large enough to fit over my Olympia mesh stuff. Any word on sizing on the Frog Toggs? Should I buy a size larger than my Olympia?
Yes...check out the tread titled "The can is off" over on the Rockster forum (this site). I just did it to my Roadster last night - very easy and effective.
Alright...I am headed up to the Pacific Northwest at the end of next week and Ed mentioned I might take some raingear. Great suggestion. I have the Airglide 2 pants and jacket from Olympia. The liners keep you from getting wet, but they are downright hot because of insulation. I want something - pre...
Good raingear...great idea. The only "raingear" I have is the inner layer for the Olympia Airglide 2 jacket and pants. Very effective, but insulated like ski clothes. Great for early springs and late fall here in Colorado, but I tried to wear it the other day and probably lost 6 pounds fro...
I, too, bit the bullet last night and became can-off lemming. I have to say...this is probably the coolest thing you can do to one of these scoots for under $10. I was particularly motivated by Michael's method of flipping the "cover thingy". In fact - I'll admit it - I copied him exactly....
The thing that I didn't like about the plastic bracket is that it was comprised of two parts, split across the bottom. Because the mounting base was too broad for the spot on the Wunderlich bars, the pressure exerted by the bolt holding the light bracket to the bars caused the gap between the two pi...
