Slightly Off Topic - R1100S Blinker Problem
Hello, Please forgive me for being slightly off topic but I have a blinker / turn signal problem on my 2002 R1100S. I can start the left or right turn signal to begin blinking but after the bike is warmed up (maybe 10 minutes), randomly, after 10-40 seconds, it will simply stop blinking. It does not...

Re: Replace Zipper on a BMW Tankbag
Hello, I recently had to replace the zipper on my black, blue and white BMW Motorad $300 jacket. The heat and humidity here in Louisiana made the waist band material shrink :) :) and the zipper broke a few teeth at the bottom. My mother-in-law replaced the zipper (she is an excellent seamstress) wit...

Re: replacing Stock air filter with K&N
Hello, A few years ago, on one of the BMW M3 car sites, somebody did a fairly scientific oil analysis study between the oil in a K & N equipped bike and a regular stock paper filter equipped bike. The numbers for particulates and general purpose junk in the K & N oil was nowhere near as good...

Hello, I have both. I own a 2004 R1150RT (for about two years) and I bought a 2002 R1100S about three weeks ago. You ask an exceptionally tough question although if I had to make a call, I would go with my 1150RT. It has heated grips and the seat is a little more to my liking and cruises like a drea...

Orange Icon Vest
I use one of the Icon vests noted above for use on the military base where I work and for general purpose riding. The clear plastic Velcro pocket over the front left side of the vest is perfect for the gate guards to look at my ID card so that I can keep my hands on the handle bars. The vest is a li...

2002 1100S Boxer Cup
Hello, I have a 2004 R1150RT that I love but I am thinking about getting a second bike - a 2002 1100S Boxer Cup. The 1100 has a little over 6300 miles and has been well cared for. Before I buy the 1100S should I be worrying about the standard things as I worry about with my R1150RT? I assume that sp...

Corbin Seat Adjustments
Hello, I recently purchased a used Corbin seat that fits the bike well, looks great and feels great but it leaves me a little too tip-toed. Has anybody successfully made adjustments to a Corbin seat after it has already been built? Did it look OK and hold up well? How much did it cost? Many thanks, ...

No Bag Heat Problem
I also have the reflective tape and I have no heating problems at all. All the way to Daytona and all the way back a few weeks ago . . . no problems.

More Oil Thread
My theory is that a small German gnome or troll lives under the seat and only comes out at night. Alternatively, he drains or adds small amounts of oil to his liking and to our frustration. After all that I have heard, read, seen and experienced for this first year of ownership, it is the only plaus...

None of it will matter cause in heaven the bikes never need gas, never break down, never get flat tires, the oil level is always at the red line, the splines never fail, and you never get bugs on the windshield, helmet visor or your teeth. The seat heat and the heated grips will be the least ordered...

Kisan Modulator
I use the Kisan device and agree with everything mentioned in this thread. The Kisan was on the bike when I bought it used (along with the extra little flashing brakelight LEDS). At first, I thought it annoyed too many people but when my motorcycle safety instructor told us he used one, I turned min...

Z4 Is Plenty Good Enough
Hello,
I have almost 6000 miles on my Z4's and they are going strong. Should easily make at least 10,000 maybe 12,000. Wet or dry, they seem fine and are the stock tire on my 04 1150RT. I have no complaints but I m sure the Z6's would be very good, too.

Summer Jacket
Hello, Just got my Joe Rocket Rio jacket - silver in color for high visibility. It is perfect for the warmer Louisiana weather yet still has plenty of elbow, shoulder and back padding. It lets in a lot of air through the mesh on those days when I would otherwise need to be in short sleeves with bare...

Aftermarket Manual
Hello,
It is good that you are going for the aftermarket manual. I bought the dealer manual on CD for too much money and it was a waste of good plastic. And I would stay away from the manuals offered on E-bay that are CD copies of something as I would fear it is just more of the same.

Storage For Bike???
Hello,
I cannot answer any of these. Even at one month, that is too long. Here in NW Louisiana people ride straight through the winter and do not put their bikes into storage. Yea, sure, I might go a few weeks but I do not consider that "storage".

Try Modifying Your Current Seat
Hello, Rather than spend a gob of cash on a full custom seat, try having your current seat shaved a little. I did not find mine to be uncomfortable but it was a little too high and wide for my 30 inch legs even on the lowest notch. I found a stock 1150 RT seat on E-Bay (I kept the original unchanged...
