Re: Thanks for the feed back

Paranoid? I don't think so. If I've got the wrong impression about this forum ( which I doubt) I got it in part from you Don. See his quote below from another thread. As far as being threatened... I'll let the those reading Don's other quote below about the lack of free speech and "enforced qui...

Re: Thanks for the feed back

This is not an intermittant problem. It happens EVERY time the bike is cold. I don't know what kind of bikes you've been riding but I've never had this happen with any other bike I've owned. Just read all the suggestions from others on this thread about the tricks they use to get it in gear. I don't...

Re: Thanks for the feed back

You DO have a point there. It is everyone's right to bring up and discuss issues they feel they have with their bikes. Mark Actually - speaking as the moderator of quite a few other forums (and not at all for the moderators of this forum) - there is no "right" of free speech on an Interne...

Re: Thanks for the feed back

The R1200R was the right bike. Commenting on issues the bike has doesn't change that.

NOTHING in this world has ever been improved by people being silent.

Re: Retro fit Tire Pressure monitor

I bought the R1200R because I like it. That doesn't mean that I'm going to ignore problems it has so as not to upset BMW or anyone else for that matter. I also have a VFR that I like very much but it also had a problem that the dealer corrected when the manufacturer refused. You really should get pa...

Re: Retro fit Tire Pressure monitor

I don't know about the "noisey Valve train" my VFR is MUCH quieter than the BMW and MUCH smoother. That being said, Honda, as a company, is no prize either. What I'm saying is that we should not let these manufacturers ( BMW, Honda or whoever ) off the hook. If you don't hold their feet to...

Re: Thanks for the feed back

My feeling about the turn signal arrangement is that if you are going to be different than the norm it should be better. My opinion is that this is not better, it's only different. You now have 3 switches instead of one. How is that better? I'm amazed at how forgiving/understanding everyone is about...

Thanks for the feed back

I hope no one gets the wrong impression from anything I've said. I love this bike. My only dislikes are the 1st gear shifting issue and the aerodynamics could be better as has been discussed at length in regards to windshields. While we're on the sugject, what were you thinking with the turn signals...

Re: Retro fit Tire Pressure monitor

I've been using the pull in the clutch all the way and let it out some to get it into first trick. It works, but that's not the point. Obviously something is wrong if we need to go through all these rituals. For BMW to deny there is a problem and refuse to do anything to fix it is an insult given wh...

Retro fit Tire Pressure monitor

After purchasing my 08 R1200R I asked the dealer about a tire press. retro fit. I was told that the sensors & control unit were readily available and reasonablly priced and the install would be simple. The only problem is the dealers can not get the necessary software from BMW to make it work. I...

Re: R1200R handguards on Cal. Sci. site

Thanks Harry. I have the '08 and later type but they don't mount as well as I would like. Is there any word that BMW might bring the earlier ones back?

R1200R handguards on Cal. Sci. site

Cal. Scientific has a picture of a gray/silver R1200 with handguards on their website that appear to mount to the clutch/brake masters and not the handlebars. The folks at Cal. Sci. thought it belonged to Don Eilenberger. Don assures me it's not his. Does anyone know about the handguards on this bik...

Re: Regional Sales Differences?

There are still a number of R1200Rs available directly from BMW. I just bought one through my dealer here in Rhode Island. They are even offering a $1250 rebate to help you make the decision. Forget about black. I got the last one. :) It's due to arrive any day and I feel like a kid waiting for Chri...
