Braided stainless brake hoses...Yes

Post by Soliton »

Ok. I will admit openly that I was skeptical but my hoses were 17 years old and I considered it time to replace them. (ABS model)

Yea gods and little fishes!

It's like the mechanic fitted me with brand new brakes. The handle feel is totally different, it's now massively firm but progressive. It used to be grabby at low speed... not any more.

Full system bleed including ABS...I can here the whine but it is about a quarter as loud as it was before...Yay!

I don't know if different companies lines are different but I got mine from a mob in the UK and it has got to be the best maintenance mod I have done in years. It embarrasses me that I didn't realise how bad they were. Now I am wondering what other things I have just gotten used to.

Your litres per 100 km may differ but I'm super happy, consider it when you go to replace them.

I felt the same after replacing my 12-year-old original brake hoses with Spiegler braided hoses!
It's an upgrade worth the money.

I was fortunate to find a full set of OEM braided lines for a 2004.
Removed the ABS system and installed EBC HH Pads all around.
What a transformation, MUCH more feedback, linear and powerful braking....what a concept ;)

I replaced the OEM brake lines on my '02 R1150 in April '13, the front line broke at the splitter where the ABS line would connect if the bike had it .
I have installed Spiegler lines on 2 of my airhead R65's I like the feature that the banjo fittings have a slip joint, so you don't have a twisted line when you are done with the installation .
So I installed a set on the R1150 .
I replaced the OEM brake pads at that time as well, I used EBC HH compound pads all around .
Extremely impressed with the increase in braking capability .

Thankfully my '04 came with the SS braided lines from BMW. Still working well. I too have the EBC HH sintered pads front and rear. Powerful brakes.
