question about bolt

I am putting my stock exhaust back on. Lost the original bolt to fasten it to the bracket

It is a HEXAGON SCREW WITH FLANGE - M8X40-8.8-ZNS3

I get that this is a metric 8 mm diameter bolt, 40 mm long. What is the 8.8 and the ZNS3?

Is this something I can get at like Home Depot or a local hardware place? Or more specific?

Not sure what the ZNS3 is but the 8.8 designates a high strength bolt. Equivalent to a Grade 8 in a SAE bolt. Also probably a fine thread bolt. Pitch of 1.25 or 1.0. A pitch of 1.5 is considered a coarse thread. And yes a good hardware or building supply should have it.

ZN just designates a zinc coating ,but I think Motorrad switched to a different plating method now.
8.8 is the strength ; wish tje had hashmarks on them like SAE does.

Thanks. I ended finding the right bolt at the hardware store. It is zinc coated but I don't know what the strength is. seems to work fine.

I can't imagine that even a bit softer bolt would hurt since it's just the exhaust.
