Anyone run a 120/70 18 tire on a 110/80 18 rim?

I recently picked up a '99 R1100R special edition, which came with the spoked wheels. The front tire is an 18 incher which is designed for a 110/80 front tire.

I wanted to get Michelin PR4's for my next set of tires, but it appears that they don't make an 18 inch 110/80. Seems like 120/70 is the only choice. I believe the tire would still fit, but am not sure what kind of handling characteristics that would create for the bike. Has anyone run PR4's on that kind of rim here? Would recommend or not?

Eugene,

Sorry, but I don't have an answer for you, however I'm in the same situation. Just picked up a 96 model with spoke wheels and am finding tire choices are limited. I've ordered a set of Avon Distanzias going for sort of a scrambler/adventure vibe, but even then, had to order a back tire for the front (which I'll mount backwards).

Please let us know what you end up doing, as I'd like to know of a 120/70 is something I might consider next time.
