Wanting a luggage tray, stock front seat, rear OEM suspension

Post by Wooly11 »

Hi all
In a quest to return the recently purchased Rockster Edition 80 '03 back to as close to OEM as practical I have purchased some heated grips, BMW panniers, a centre stand.
Still looking for stock Rockster handlebars
Also seeking
Stock front seat
Luggage tray that replaces the pillion seat
Rear suspension
A brake side (RHS) OEM mirror
And lastly...the silver coloured (currently have black) handlebar mounting brackets. Top plate is alloy coloured so like brackets to match

A bit of a list but....if you don't ask....you don't get
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
PS
I'm in Melbourne Australia but will pay postage

Melbourne?

I have a couple of luggage trays - what quality do you want? I can't guarantee that they're pristine.

I would say that I'd swap the handlebar brackets for mine (I don't care about the colour of them), but you'd need to send yours to me first - I use my bike daily.

I'd be interested in in the tray for sure. Is it possible to send pics by email. You could send price with pics
For postage I'm in Melbourne. Victoria. 3000. Australia

I use my bike regularly as well so can't do either brackets but thanks anyway

If trays are reasonable I'm very interested.
Thanks

Ok - will dig them out over the Easter weekend and see what they're like.

It's a righteous quest. What's the bike number on the Edition 80? Mine is 0142/2003.

Per your list, I have the following:
Rockster handlebar - slightly bent but whole; easily fixed by specialist
Rear shock - approx. 20k miles use, otherwise very good
OE mirror set
Top clamp set: you do mean the handlebar top clamps? I have OE take-offs in good condition. If instead you mean the Rockster headlight module side mounts, then cannot help - I have a black set as backups.

Shipping the shock to AUS might be expensive due to weight.

PM me with email and we can exchange pics, prices.

Pm sent. Thanks
I do mean the handlebar clamp.
Mine in No. 50
Suspension is the least important at this stage
My right mirror has the paint lifting on it whereas the left is still in great nick
Are the handlebars suitable for for heated grips.
Look forward to pics.

As you can see, they're not pristine, but perfectly usable. :)

No - they're plastic, with silver paint over (IIRC) black. The mounting lugs and that flat channel section are metal though.

I modded a 3rd one with the OE tail-rack and a cheap bread-board. :) (have painted the whole assembly black since). VERY useful for camping trips as I can strap* the tent and other bags down to just this assembly, and then if I need to get under it for tyre-repair kit or somesuch I don't need to unstrap everything; it all comes off as one. :D

* I use 1" buckle straps

Plastic is probably easier to work with. Looking to get back to similar to how it was originally.
Yours looks interesting.
I am surprised a little about how flexible the pannier bars and top box rack are. The top box wobbles a lot compared to my 2005 K1200r. It was rock solid.

My top-box waves about all over the place. Hasn't fallen off in 10 years though.... ;) (although I have lost a pannier!)

I checked out the tea tray - the plastic underneath is a pale cream colour (not black) - so complimentary to the over-spray of silver.

Will get yours posted out soon as I can persuade the missus to go to the post-office ;) :).

I have a stock "front" seat here somewhere. I crashed my bike with the Sargent, so the OEM one is in the parts box in the garage.

Message me, if you haven't come up with one yet.

Just a quick note - the rear shock is the same one used on the R850R - might make it a little easier to find?
