Brake pad advice

Post by towerworker »

Need to replace the rear pads--03 with 15000mi. OEM pads are the "sintered steel" . I have always requested "organic" pads when replacing them on my vehicles in the past. (think they are asbestos or some similar material) Due to the material I have had to sign a form indicating that I requested them. (even got a MSDS sheet the last time I think)
I like them because they are not as hard on the rotors and would rather replace pads more frequently than have to replace the rotors.

I have found online organic pads for my r (at least for the rear). Anyone here have any experience with them?

BTW--dealer price for BMW pads is about $50, (sintered)
the organic are about half of that. A new rotor is near $200.

Would appreciate any input.

I have no experience with them but EBC makes Kevlar that alot of people seem to use.

I just use the EBC versions, I'm not really sure which type. I have no noticable wear on my rotors and I'm at 50,000 miles. I did the same for my K12 with no noticable wear at 60,000.

So there you go . . .
