Ok, it's not a complete, comprehensive conversion of R1100R to R1100GS, but rather a modification of the Roadster to enhance off-road capabilities. Stumbled across this in the ADVrider board, and would love to tackle a similar project sometime!

Makes me wish I'd kept either the trusty old '96 R850R or problem child R1100R for such modifications.

Re: Project link in ADV: R1100R to GS conversion
Nice! Been tossing this idea around myself for awhile, mainly thought of swapping wheels out, adding skid plates and plumbing in a GS oil cooler behind the telelever in lieu of the exposed R's "ears."

Was hoping you might see this topic, Oliver. You might also point out your switch to the R1150R Telelever A-arm, which really improves the bike's aesthetic.

Hi Mark,
well you've done it already Besides the oil cooler it was the best ever mod on my old R1100R. But I've been extremely lucky to find this a-arm which is rare like to blue mauritius stamp. The oil-cooler mod however is impossible with the original muffler! Might work with the RS muffler or with a totally different exhaust like the one from BODIS in Hungary as seen on my former bike. Another possibility would be to adapt the R1150R tank with the integrated oil coolers (but I did not like that solution because that tank does not have the rounded design). As a matter of fact I have never liked the cooler-"ears" above the cylinders on the R1100R and that was one of my first mods which came along with the exhaust.
But thats history ...
