Bruno,
I just scheduled my R12R to be shipped from the BMW dealership in Minnesota where it was purchased, to my home in Great Falls, MT. I used Allied Shipping. They were not the cheapest, but they use enclosed trailers and their transit time was the quickest. Their number is 800-747-4100. I spoke with a woman named Marietta at extention 2215. I cannot speak to my experience, as the bike is currently en route. Other options to consider would be:
HaulBikes: 800-428-5245
DAS: 800-827-6998
JC: Motors 888-749-3832
I have no experience nor affiliation with any of these vendors.

Re: bike shipping
Thanks for your reply, I don't seem to have a problem finding ways to ship, moreover, its the cost I am trying to keep down
Re: bike shipping
The greatest problem with delivery a bike is the dimension the box, not the weight. Bike boxes are huge and uncomfortable. The further you deliver, the more it expenses. Worldwide delivery is much more costly, it can cost more than twice as much as household delivery, plus your client has to cope with transfer responsibilities.

Re: bike shipping
I've often wondered what shipping a bike cross country would cost. It's surprising no one on this forum has done it.
It would be useful information to have especially seeing as I live on the East coast and the BMWMOA rally is on the West coast next year. I know the center of the Country is our bread basket but it's not the most pleasant section to traverse on two wheels, and yes I've done it a few times.

Re: bike shipping
thanks guys I guess my real problem is I don't wanna spend more than $300 to ship cross country. I figured maybe a train would be cheaper.
Re: bike shipping
Are those one way prices? I want to fly to Denver, then ride for two weeks and fly back. Probably won't do it if it will run me $800 to ship the bike each way.

Has anyone tried this? http://theshippingdock.com/index.php
You post your motorcycle on the site and shippers bid to haul it for you.

Re: bike shipping
This is why I rent instead of ship. It gives me a chance to really appreciate my R1200R after getting off a rental.

I've always heard that Forward Air https://www.forwardair.com/prepaid/MCmainpage.jsp is the cheapest way to ship but I don't think it will be as cheap as you are looking for.
