94 R1100RS subframe broken

So now I know something about the rear subframe strength on the 94 1100RS.
Purchased locally late last year w/ 130K miles in great condition.
Added Givi rear rack. Bike shares commuting duty, getting the call on coldest and wettest days.
The rack carry's my backpack with laptop and occasionally groceries.
The rear subframe has broken immediately behind driver seat (typical spot).
There was an TSB update to this year subframe as BMW added rear case option.
Thoughts on options to strengthen the subframe? Planning to have a mild steel rods inserted, not
sure if there's room for much bracing.
