Electrical Problem
I was doing some work on the bike and had to remove the tank to get some wiring. When I put the tank back on it touched the positive battery terminal and produced a lot of smoke and popping. I checked all fuses and everything is working fine except the fuel warning light will not turn off and my heated grips do not work. Could I have fried the fuel sensor or a relay? Thanks for the help.
Re: Electrical Problem
First of all I think you have learned about one essential before removing the tank: disconnect your minus connector at the battery!
Secondly if all your fuses are fine (double check!) I suppose you have fried some wires. The tell-tale wire-harness consists of a lot of thin wires and it is easy to get the fried ... Suggest you remove the tank again (probably you'll also have to remove the instruments cover) and inspect the wiring.
