My 2002 R1150R has a black plastic cover at the top of each fork tube that need to be replaced. One came apart while I was riding and I put it in my jacket until I got home. I put it back on with some black tape but want to replace both since the other one is cracked and will also break soon. Can I remove the fork cap and then unscrew the fork top bolt and then push the fork down and replace this plastic cover? Does anyone have the part number for these black plastic covers? My Haynes manual ( never buy a Haynes manual!!!) doesn't even mention these covers, so unsure of proper name and part number.
Thanks for the help and advice,
Barton.

Re: Dust cover
Thanks for the PN. Is it as easy as I think to replace them?

Re: Dust cover
I just looked and I don't have these parts on my 2002 (they probably fell off a long time ago). Do they serve a functional purpose, or are they just cosmetic? I'll replace them if they are functional, but won't if they are cosmetic.
Thanks!

Just keep water/dust out, should be easy to replace, just pop in place.ekiM wrote:I just looked and I don't have these parts on my 2002 (they probably fell off a long time ago). Re: Dust cover
I noticed about a month ago that one was missing on my `03. Can we just release the top of the tube and slip the new one on ?
I don't get caught in the rain, I ride in it on purpose.
