Merry Christmas 2022!

Post by towerworker »

I know there is a bit less attendance on this board then in days past but there are still a great number of 1150's on the road. And it still seems like one of the easiest BMW's to own and maintain. I'm quickly approaching 68 and I've been riding BMW's since '01/03. I started a bit late in my riding career but I've found it hard to find a better bike. BMW's are not perfect but they do seem to tick all the boxes for me.

I've found many friends on this site, many I've had the honor to meet face to face and ride with. Many more that I hope to meet in the future. I've come through a couple of fairly serious health challenges since I was introduced to this board in 2003. I know many lifted a few prayers on my behalf in 2010 when I came close to leaving this world because of Guillian Barre Syndrome. Near a year in hospitals and 3 years to learn to ride again. One of my biggest motivations to work hard and get stronger was my desire to get back on my '04 R1150R. Just simply had to ride again. And since that time I've managed to roll an additional 80,000 miles. And along the way I've shared a little bit of that journey here. Well enough of my rambling. I need to get ready to go to some more P/T at my local hospital. Still dealing with residuals from breaking my right leg (on the bike) in 2020. Did the left in 2008. :)

I'd like to wish all a very Merry Christmas! And hope to see you in 2023!

Merry Christmas Wayne! Next year I'm due for burundesa visit in Virginia; would be cool to meet for coffee.

Haven't been here in the group for quite a while, and happy it's still online, thanks Doug.

Travel a bit for work and would like to make side trips happen to meet some of the R1150R family in person. We've been here 20 years!

Hi Wayne,
Super late Merry Christmas to you! Glad to know you are still here. I come back here when I start missing my old '04 R1150R. Hope all is well for you in 2023!

Thanks Jeff!
I don't get over here as much as I used to. But I'm trying to step that up. Weather is starting to get cold enough here to where I leave the bike covered more and more. Riding in really cold weather (like 30 or lower) is just not as much fun as it once was. But it's stll fun to get over here and talk oilheads. Good to hear from you!

Hi Wayne,
Might be 2 1/2 months late.!
I am just turned 23 x 3 years old in January; I am still riding my 2002 in Japan.
Opening season is 1 April, still little snow in March.
Glad to see "Hightower" on this site.

Hi Gaijin!

So good to hear from you! And happy belated birthday. You have me by one year as I turned 68 last weekend. I'm still riding, the weather here is getting
nice. I think 60 today and low 70's (F) on Sunday. I wish we had more traffic on this board but so many of us have gone on to other bikes and kinda vanished. I'm on my 3rd BMW with 61K on an '05 RT. Love it. I see my old '05 R occasionally as I sold it to a friend. He has it looking better than it ever did when I owned it. Take care my friend!

Checking in! Hey Doug, my membership payment didn't go through... that might have even been 2021 since the flies.

Wayne hope you're doing well. My current work travel takes me everywhere but Virginia!

There's a Rockster user group in Facebook with the occasional good post, but it's mostly international and Glamor Shots (nothing wrong with that of course).

And the ADV Roadster thread gets regular action, though it's a catch-all of BMW Roadster types.
