just got Sidi; fit, well...like a glove? but waterproof and will be warm this winter.

Oxtar Matrix... full protection (including shin, ankle), very comfortable (even for wide feet with high instep), waterproof, they wear well, reasonable price, and they look great!

BMW Savanna boots for me. Thick, stout, 14" tall, armored everywhere, Gore-tex lined so they are absolutely waterproof .... If I was planning a riding trip around the world or to the ends of the earth, these are the boots I would choose to wear. Not cheap, but these are the boots I want to be buried in, 'cause where I'm headed, there ain't no telling what kind of protection I'm gonna need!

Here's a good thread with detailed picts comparing them to the Oxtar Infinity, which is essentially the same boot, and cheaper, though good luck trying to find a pair stateside these days, they've been withdrawn from the US market.

I too recommend Sidi. I'm donning a pair of Sidi Sympatex right now as a matter of fact as I type. I've owned mine for nearly five years now and have worn them for the better part of the last 60k miles on bikes. Heck, polish them up in black well enough and I can get away with using them with a pair of slacks and a button-up shirt for business. They've been totally waterproof, and I've worn them in the winter while riding when the temp has dipped into the teens in the mountains of western Virginia.

Kochmann boots are supposed to be great, although I've never tried a pair. I have two pair of custom-made Bates road-racing boots and they are great! Top quality leather, fine fit ... and they don't make you look like you're something out of Road Warrior. They're not waterproof because good leather should breathe ... and these do. If it rains, I slip on a pair of Totes.

Sidi!

Besides having an awesome sounding itallian name....they are great boots.

I just got the Evo Strada Tepor boot (or some combination of those three words). Bought them new for a trip....now I had second thoughts about new boots on a long trip, but they were wonderful. Not even a single sore toe, no stiffness, just pure comfort. They kept me dry when it rained, and they have some kind of sweat wicking liner that kept me feeling dry on the 95+ degree days.
A little spendy...but c'mon....did any of us think this mororcycling thing was going to be a cheap sport?

I second Dex's and Pinecone's endorsement of the Aerostich Combat Touring (made for Aerostich by Sidi).

Long breakin period. Requires diligent uses of leather treatment and/or waterproofing (I prefer natural water resistance via good leather treatment products - I use Murphey's Oil Soap).

Remember, boots are like boats -- there are many models but they all float.

I use the Australian made Rossi boots, 811 Vision.
Waterproof, air cushion sole, very comfortable boot.
Rossi make a complete line of work, and motorcycle boots, very good quality.
I also have Rossi 814, which is a short motorcycle boot for day trips etc.
Not sure if you can get Rossi boots in the US, and England.

I like Oxtar Matrix, but my only complaint is that the fine traction features of the sole seemed to wear pretty quickly. I bought a pair of Vendraminni Marathons, and I like them even better. Seem to have more protection that the Oxtars, very comfy and so-far, waterproof. Soles seem to wear about the same as the Oxtars, and I somehow doubt that they are replaceable.

Expensive, but no regrets.

I have the Cortech Solution and like them fine. So far they are waterproof and VERY comfortable. And they look enough like normal shoes that I occasionally wear them to my office. But they lack in protection.

My next pair is likely to be the Oxtar Matrix several others have noted.

BMW Goretex boots. They have been great for 4-5 years, and will last much longer.

Do you guys know which boots tend to have a taller heel? I only have a 30" inseam so I could use the extra help...

I have no problems on the Roadster as I am completely flat footed knees bent but on my CBR600RR, the seat height is about 32.5 inches and not to mention my KLX is 35 inches...

Thanks for all of the input. My inclination is toward the Aerostitch Combat or Combat Lites, would just like to see them in person.

Saw some very nice BMW boots @ Counry Rode Motorwerks (Fairport NY) for $350.

Will be in Germany for the next week and am hoping to have time to look @ some there. Anyone in the group have any Deutsch Motorrad shopping experience in Heilbronn / Neckarsulm area?
