Here is the German text about the R1200R from the same mag that DJ found...

I can translate this, but can't do it today....Perhaps someone else has the time?

From Motorrad Magazine #3/2006:

There is missing nevertheless still somewhat - a Naked Bike with the 1200er-Boxer-Motor or like BMW it would call, a roadster model, which gloriosmit R 1200 R. which before two years rather the presentation of R 1200 gs began, the modernization of the box building row with higher performance, run-calmer and engines with high engine speed, would be with this model probably locked. It is, the residents of Munich can a few exclusive niche motorcycles of the kind of the HP2 be still broken in. Motorcycle designers and motorcycle draughtsmen Stefan strength it understands itself, after it had in detail studied the shape of the new boxer of the 1200 gs over the blanks, ST, S and HP2 and also to side view of the K 1200 R and the F 800 had thrown, as advancement of R 1150 r-Designs. More sharp-edged it should be, than the flowing lines of old R give, and a narrowly cut, salient face to carry. This is a topic, which at present designers approach from all directions. Streetfighter, Enduros, Supermoto motorcycles, even Rallyemaschinen and supersportsmen supply suggestions, which are merged too much expressiven frontal views. Those is given with a box he BMW already alone by the silhouette of the engine, yet it is appropriate near to set within the range around the headlight other optical accents than the chromium-plated lamp and instrument pots of R 1150 R. for extremely zaghafte suggestions of a BMW speaker, who would have denied the bare existence of the project at the dearest still, lets assume the fact that Stefan strength arranged the design in this point more aggressive than later R 1200 R will look. Because the speaker described a rather conservative clientele, which R 1200 R to win was, humans, who were still very connected for the ideal of the classical uncovered motorcycle, without running after therefore Retro Look mode. Therefore the short exhaust of the Roadster design is, he also would so beautifully be likewise questionable,; probably the later original machine will carry a final muffler in similar dimensions as the gs. Possess particularly gs and r-model traditionally the same engine variant, in this case the 98 and 100-PS-Ausfuehrung. But the optical ease, which was with the organization of the roadster a goal, in order to signal the again won driving dynamics, possesses the draft in high measure.
Freedom is dangerous. Those in power that steal freedom are more dangerous.

Not that it matters, but that's obviously a computer translation that doesn't do all that great a job...

Here's my translation:

Somethings still missing from the BMW lineup - a naked bike with the 1200 Boxer engine, or as BMW would likely call it - the r1200r Roadster. It started two years ago with the glorious presentation of the new R1200GS which modernised the Boxer line with a more powerful, quieter and quicker engine. Introducing the r1200r would bring the R series to completion. It seems, however, that the BMW company is focusing on exclusive niche-motorcycles, like the HP2.

Motocycle designer and Motorrad Magazine artist, Stefan Kraft, has studied the design of the new boxers from the 1200GS to the RT, ST, S and the HP2, the k1200r and the new f800. From these studies he's put together the further evolution of the r1150r. It will be more angular than the flowing line of the old R, with a slender, chiseled and striking front end. This is a theme that designers from all directions are approaching. Streetfighter, Enduros, Supermoto-Motorraeder, even rally bikes and Superports provide influences that are molded into a very expressive front view. (More coming)
