Throttlemeister & Handguards

Post by Dgdecker »

Not that I need the handguards in this heatwave, but I've come up with a simple solution to accommodate keeping your Throttlemeister usable when you've installed handguards (specifically Barkbusters). All you need are less than $10 worth of parts from McMaster-Carr, even less if you don't go stainless steel. Order their #92871A345 ss spacer 13mm OD x 9mm long for M6 Screw size AND #91116A160 ss washers for M6 screw (pack of 25). $3.09 for spacer and $6.20 for washers. If you want to hunt around elsewhere for the washer you might save a couple of $$. All you need to do is drill out the spacer with a 5/16" drill bit and assemble as follows. Remove existing M6 right side Throttlemeister screw with a 6mm Allen key. Insert the spacer in the Throttlemeister end, assemble the handguard with Barkbuster screw with the ss washer between the spacer and the handguard. Align the Throttlemeister so that the OFF position is face the rear of the bike - and you're done. Now you can have both the handguards and the Throttlemeister!!
