FRONT BRAKE QUESTION

Post by want2b »

Recently replaced front rotors and pads.
Was riding my 1997 r1100r with an open face helmet and could hear what sounded
like the brakes engaging when I was stopping. The noise was not very pronounced
but you could hear a contact like noise and a slight vibration in the hand brake.
Any thought????

I can only give you some reflections regarding your problem, hope it gives something.

A couple pf thoughts:
1) Bad surface on one or more discs, probably due to faulty manufacturing. Did you buy chinese discs?
2) Floating discs, crap or burrs interfere with the range of motion for one of the discs, or both of them. Could be caused by improper manufacturing or something else.

If you have driven around like this for a while, maybe you can identlify at what position on any of the two discs where there is more wear on the surface. That could possibly give you some help in finding out what the hell is going on :)

Have a nice day!
