Digital tire gauge for the RR?

Post by Keppelj »

I'd like a recommendation for a digital pressure gauge for the R1150R. Bought BMW's P51 - the black angular one - but there isn't room on the front tire for it between the brake disk and spokes to align properly with the valve stem. It's fine on the rear. Others?

I use a non-digital gauge with a hose. That was the only way I could get a straight shot at the valve stem. You can clamp it onto the stem and either pump air through it to top up, or release a little bleed valve to lower the pressure, while still measuring.

There is another way to go with this problem.
Get one of these and keep it in your jacket pocket!

But next time you change your tires try fitting one of these in place of the OEM straight valve:

Not sure but I believe that Triumph use the same size valve as BMW (11.3 mm) and this type
of valve is standard fitment on a Street Triple. So if there's a TRiumph dealer near you you could
see if they have them in stock.

NoRRmad, your gauge looks interesting. I ordered one. Thanks. HTH, cool suggestions also. Not sure I have the patience for the first, but the second makes sense at a tire swap. It's fidgety trying to get a gauge on the front, for sure. Both look like good hardware.

Glad to know two of you recommend the EZ gauge. There's hope! I received it but it leaks like crazy around the valve stem. There are directions included for how to fix this but I haven't gotten to it.

I never had a leakage problem, but I suspect it's a technique fix. Squeeze the catch lever open and firmly press the tube down straight onto the valve stem. There will be a little squirt of air until you're pressing hard enough. Release catch lever.

There's supposed to be a little O-ring inside the fixture at the end of the tube, that seals against the top of the valve stem. Make sure that's still there. Make sure the valve core inside the stem isn't partly unscrewed.
