Beemeridian went down Sunday 1/13/2013

Post by towerworker »

One of my very good friends and a member of this forum went down Sunday afternoon. David (Beemeridian) totaled his R after a very young driver pulled out in front of him. He sustained a compound fracture of his right leg (tibia) and a few broken bones in his right hand. Another close friend was riding just behind him and of course saw every heart wrenching moment. Their were no other physical injuries but the very young driver was reported to be in shock. Hopefully she will be ok.

I visited Dave last nite in the hospital, he's doing well considering what he's been thru. Because of the nature of the break (he used the term--transverse fracture) he must be very careful as proper healing is not guaranteed) and could be very lengthy. Please keep he and his wife Nancy in your prayers.

Opened Wayne's heads-up E-Mail about Dave late last night and was stunned from the impact of the printed words. Broken boneS, flew over car . . . bike totaled! From the coming details of the accident, nobody could have avoided THAT accident. My phone VOIP history shows I spoke to Dave 10 days ago for 51 minutes total spanning 4 rural cell tower redials while his wife Nancy was driving. Those conversations prompted Santa to leave a small name tagged stocking on my fireplace, which was shipped to Dave & Nancy some 5 days ago. It's a good thing those 3 little (non M/C specific) gems will still be of use during and after Dave's 3+ month recovery.

These board member accidents should remind everyone just how very UNforgiving M/C riding can be, even for experienced riders. I was reminded of this 3 days ago where a 3 second look into the bus I was passing on a 2 lane slight right sweeper turn put my bike 5 feet to the left from where I thought I was after I looked ahead, nearly ON the solid white line. The reality shock was like falling off a cliff! OMG. Pay !attention! I thought. Pay attention I will and dial it back to 90% as the new 100%.

Dave is home now and very probably being pampered by his devoted wife Nancy. And he's probably already driving her nuts!

Amen!

Dave, hope you heal up nicely (key here is to take it very easy for some time) and glad you survived the nasty ordeal.

Rob, your small mistake could have been fatal and glad you shared, because many of us get careless (yours truly included) from time-to-time.

Hi Dave, I truly hope you make a full and complete recovery. Rob said it all with
"From the coming details of the accident, nobody could have avoided THAT accident."
Well at least you're still with us. I had a nasty one in a car in November '73 and the memory
of that still lingers but it no longer bothers me...I was lucky to get away with my life but....I did.

So sorry to read this. Best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery!

My brothers friend died a few months ago in a fluke 20mph motorcycle accident...he was 30 and built like a brick you-know-what.

We all love riding our R's, but it is so very dangerous with those cagers all around. Safe riding everyone!!

That's a tough break, is a hundred different ways.

Focus on the good cheer needed to heal, and whatever you do, do NOT replay the mess over and over in your head trying to find a MSF documented reason that it should not happen. (I learned this is a natural reaction, 7 years ago as I lay in the hospital.)

Hopefuly a dog is available. If you don't, have a friend visit with theirs. They seem to possess mental healing juice.

Get Well Dave.

I do not know you but sorry to read about your accident!

My wife and I had a similar experience about three years ago while riding on the Blue Ridhe Parkway. Young driver "did not see us" and drove INTO us while making a left turn!!
Broken bones and totaled bike..

Bikes can be replaced and bones WILL heal. Wish you a speedy and full recovery.

Cheers,
Carl

I pray that the 15 year old is not traumatized. She was ticketed and by law will lose her learners, and can not try to drive again until 18.
I heard she was pretty shook up. Her mistake is one that all drivers can make; assuming that a lonely country road is lonely at this moment...!

I will heal. What that healing will be and bring, no man can know. But with the abundant love already filling my blessed life from a loving God, family and friends, I am already well.

Good to see you back online! One finger typing may be slow -but it's a damned site better than not!

Get well soon. We need as many of us long-timers as possible here in the group.

Would be interested to know how your gear worked in the crash.

Sorry to hear, anytime I hear of a rider going down it reminds me that no matter how careful we are, these things can and do happen, I am wishing you a speedy & full recovery, your concern for the young driver is admirable, keep the board posted. mnn

Hey Towerworker - I didn't notice any improvements in you in those areas after your 'incidents' either!

Beemeridian was ahead you in both already anyway! ;)
