Clunky clutch

Post by Ksc12c »

Hello all,

I've had my Rockster for a just about a year now. The mileage is about 24k. This past fall, I've noticed the clutch seems to be noisy and clunky feeling when I pull in or release the clutch . It also feels the seem way in neutral too. It seems to shift fine and I don't feel any slippage. Any ideas?

No ideas, aside from a possible first step in clutch system troubleshooting/maintenance: change the clutch fluid. Capture the old fluid and note its color & condition, including the material currently in the clutch master reservoir.

Do a search here for "clutch slave" to see more on the topic, which has been documented extensively here and on the ADV Rider board (in "GSpot").

Aside from the clutch hydraulic system, the clutch hub splines are a potential problem spot for our bikes, but the spline problem doesn't always manifest itself in specific symptoms.
