Did Simoncelli have a faulty helmet??

Post by Acpantera »

I can't find any real investigation results that gave a reason for his helmet coming off. Was it a defective helmet ?(he had one split in two once) Or was it just the intense force that tore the strap out? has any one heard anything ?

I think that it was just the intense force of the hit.

..or he didn't put it on right. Unless mine is pretty tight, I can force it off.

From watching the replays, it looked as if the helmet strap was buckled but broke away from one side. You can see the strap flapping about(buckled) as it rolled around. I don't understand why there was no investigation into why the strap gave way. I'm no nascar fan, but when Dale Earnhardt died they left no stone unturned to find the cause of his death.
