Are you two at the Myer Country Motel or across the street at the Milford Motel?
Doc
BTW,If any of you locals can think of a good rural route from Milford down to Finns Pt National Cemetery near Salem NJ, I'd appreciate hearing about it.

Evidently *I* got the last room from Sandy. However, it's a smoking room with two beds. She will try to move me to a non-smoking room if one becomes available. Also, the room is reserved for Wednesday the 11th until Saturday. So, I have a room with an extra bed. Any takers?

I wonder how many "last Rooms" , smoking of course, she has left??? And she told me she'd move me to non smoking if it becomes available.mcooperstein wrote:Evidently *I* got the last room from Sandy. Is there a Head Count / attendee list?
MLW & I will be bringing our usual contribution to the Door Prizes.
JFSlater; are you in?
Scottybooj; what about you? What about your friends from Central PA Bash?
Who's bringing the new CBR250R for a door prize? MLW is really hoping she wins it.

Looks like I can make it this year. It's only 2 hours from home. This will be my 4th one. I have done a lot of bike camping and riding just north in the Catskills. It will be a good time. Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces. Should arrive Thursday in time for refreshments.

Hey ctRider - I'll be there riding on the seat I bought from you! Will be good to see you.
And Daryl - what I like about your door prizes is they don't usually survive the evening and they make things lively!

Re: Beakster Bash VIII - May 12-14, 2011 - Milford, Pa
Not having seen Doc's post, I went ahead and did a little reconnoitering on my own. The purpose? Certainly not to second guess the Bash Master, the man knows what he's doing. No, I needed to see if my half baked plan to day trip it up to Bash Central would make sense. And the only way to do it, was to do it. So I did it. Monday. Here's what happened.
Boy that was fast. But it was good to see the Myer Country Hotel already making plans for us. "Welcome Beakster Bashers" I'm sure it will say when the man is done with that sign. Meanwhile, for those that have to go to overflow...
Looking pretty good. And for those that remember having a Dairy Queen in walking distance of Bash Central, Milford does one better
Nice! I didn't sample anything, but it did smell great and looked delicious. Even though it was my birthday, I wanted save up the calories for some treats I spied on the way up. Here's what I traded the candy for.
That would be a Buckaroo burger, sweet potato fries and a chocolate shake. Yes it was as delicious as it looked. Where did I come across this delicious treat? Here's a hint:
Sorry for the blurry pic, it was the best my Droid could do. Doc says it's not on any of the planned ride sheets but might be good for a detour or the way in/out.
All in all a fun ride. On the way out of Milford I led my own parade down Rt. 206. Yep, for 5-10 miles I had police escort with a good 1/4 mile of other "revelers" behind me. The locals in Sussex county sure do know how to wish a fella a happy day!
I am now seriously reconsidering my plan to "day trip". The ride up wouldn't be bad, but I kept thinking about all the hiding places that critters would be on the night ride home.

I just looked up DDD locations in the area; only hit was the Jefferson Diner in Hopatcong NJ; about 35 miles south per Mapquest; must be crowded though because the time estimate is an hour to get there from Milford. Any of you Jersey guys have a thumbs up or down on this place?

Jefferson Diner has great food. I eat breakfast there maybe once a month. Their prices are a tad high for a diner because they have been featured on the Food Network. Also, they are expanding into the building next door. I hope that success does not spoil them.

The weather for the week in Milford PA looks great!
See for yourself HERE.
The only thing I am not looking forward to is the 880 mile (1416 km) one way commute from GA to PA. You just don't realize how big the USA is until you drive across it. The $4++/gallon gasoline is another buzzkill, but it's only once or twice a year.

Bugging out... I really wanted to go, but situation at home will prevent me from attending. I had a room at the Meyer reserved for the weekend (a smoking room) so it is now available to anyone interested. Hopefully next year.....
