Matsumoto, Kyoto, Hemeji and Nara Japan

Post by gaijin »

I took a few days off to ride to southern japan, ran into Tropical Cyclone (Typhoon) that decided to do a U-Turn from China back to Japan. I spent two days in hotel, slept behind convenient stores and on the toll roads (rest area). It was fun!! Here are some photos.

saw this on the way south.

Fushimi-Inari Taisha in Kyoto. Over 10000 of these torii gates on this hill.

Kasuga Taisha, Nara (29 km. south of kyoto). There are over 3000 lanterns.

Too late to find motel. Convenient store parking lot will sleep!!!

Toll Booth (one of many). If you must go fast, expressway is the only way to go but costly.

Yours truly having a can of hot coffee and pardon me for bright clothing. I do not want to be ran over.

Gaijin,
Great photos. Thanks for the glimpse into your culture.. and I think that must have been a touring PITA representative on that Harley.

Nice report. I wish we could get fairings like that for our RRs over on this side of the pond.
I don't get caught in the rain, I ride in it on purpose.

Very cool pics & great report.
That fairing looks a little like mine;

Where are you from?
I'm going through Narita next Friday/Saturday on the way to Shanghai.
From Shanghai to Suzhou for work.
First weekend off we're going to Beijing.
Any of those places near you?

I met this older japanese guy; the wild pig was his trophy from hunting and he wanted to show-off to others to see.

Ahhhh....great pics....bring tears to my eyes as I was fortunate to visit and partake of the culture during my tenure in Tokyo. Lots of things to see/do and a very interesting culture once you understand it.

I stayed in Nishi-Funabashi in Chiba prefecture....I'll have to post some pics.

BTW and not to offend anyone, my ride was an 02 Atlanta Blue R1150R....the fastest color....
