Torrey Warm-up...Montana Style

Post by UHGORDO »

Wow!! What a day! 8)

I awoke this morning at 6am with the hopes of teaming up with latakia77 (Glen) and breaking in the Sargent Seat and the new Metz Z6's. I headed to Glen's work hoping to find him heading home from his night shift--Administers Sleep Tests. I could not find him so I decided to get gas, check my tire pressure after having my new Z6's put on--they set the pressure at 29 lbs. Unacceptable!!!! I pumped up the front--oops--all the way up to 66 lbs. I made the mistake of using the gas station compressor and thought that it would take longer...don't do that!!!!

Made my way out to Glen's house--about 20 miles thinking I may catch him before going back to bed and lucky enough he had just arrived home from work. YIPPPPEEEEEE!!!!! LET'S RIDE!!!!

I am overly excited this morning because it is officially my first ride of the 2005! We had 17 inches of snow last week in 3 days! All of it melted in 1 day! Lots of water! But the morning temp was 38 or so! Pretty chilly!! The temp did climb to 61 or so mid day!!!

Our destination is Columbus, MT just West of Laurel, MT about a 30 mile jaunt on 2-lane highway. Easy ride...not much twisty action! Blue = Glen's Beak Red = Dave's Beak

We stopped for a photo op here overlooking the Yellowstone River...

No comments on looking like "twins"--Glen has no hair by choice!
We stopped at the Apple Cafe for a little coffee and breakfast...and the sweet little cashier was kind enough to leave the cash register to take our mugshot!!! Must have been sunny out cause I am squinting like crazy!!!

It was a very satisfying day...we took a few twisty roads to get the heart beating and those damn off-camber turns kept us on our toes! At one point Glen came over the hill to find a car in his lane in the opposite direction!!! :smt013 Talk about heart attack!! All ended well, however!

Dreaming of Torrey!!

Oh, yeah, as I haven't had the riding experience of most on this board and coming off the Winter months...I have enrolled in the Experienced Rider Course next Saturday. It will be a fun day doing all the exercises on my own bike this time instead of the Suzuki DR200. Hopefully, I can get some snapshots of myself going through the drills!!!

A few more pics..

A few more pics from tonights outing, just a little 40 mile ride along the Yellowstone River about 2 hours prior to sunset. The trees are budding, the grass is green, and the river is now slowly rising with Spring runoff!

This road is a great 2-laner about 10 miles long or so...tough to see at sunset though, possibility of deer and cattle!

The new Spring air was brisk along the river...just an awesome short outing!
