Off on the rockster today to view the eclipse. Hopefully picked a good place in WY to take it in, very rural area that I know which is dead center!

MEH.

I was really thinking about driving a couple hours south with the Boys....even took off half day of work... to go see it in totality. but, Iv'e become seriously annoyed by the commercialism thats happened.. Besides, well see 94% where we're at. So i canceled it, Ill just go outside, ooh and ahhh for a sec. then go back in..

watch out for crazy traffic.

My house is 4 miles from center of totality. Oregon is expecting 1 million visitors this weekend & Monday, my city and regional roads expect 500,000.

Filling fridge and gas tanks this morning, then watching the (brief) total eclipse and (days long) traffic nightmare.

Went for a ride yesterday (Thursday the 17th) from Salem (Oregon) just a little East and then North to the Beaver Creek area, staying on roads less traveled than the Freeway or even secondary highways. Nice and overcast for most of ride until early afternoon when headed home and the sun came out to warm us beyond the 80 degree mark and sat out the rest of the afternoon in the shade at home.

Rode in the Willamette valley today, Salem to Sweet Home to Corvallis etc, choosing backroads to avoid I-5 traffic. Roads are mostly wide open, lots of bicyclists trekking into area for eclipse, and tent camping everywhere: parks, front yards, commercial agricultural properties.

Post-eclipse: local roads not bad, but I-5 north and south from Salem are slow.

Eclipse was cool to see from dead center of the totality.
