Removing front wheel confusion!

Post by Hidalgo »

I am ready to replace my front tire and after watching a few You Tube videos and even a few documents on oil heads they all indicate that the speedometer cable needs to be removed from the front. Maybe I need new glasses or better lighting in my garage but I can’t seem to find where the speedometer cable attaches to my front wheel. I have watched 3 on-line videos and they don’t look anything like my AMAZING Rockster.

You can't see one becouse it doesn't have one....Rocksters use a electronic sensor on the rear bevel drive.

Great! (Boy do I feel silly!!) It’s seems it’s a pretty straight forward procedure. I always took my K75 to a local shop for tires but this time I wanted to do it myself. I have read a few articles where people don’t remove the brake system. They simply remove the wheel while warning about damaging the ABS sensor. I am always open to best possible advice.
Thanks Tricktree!

Removing front wheel confusion

Post by MichaelCew »

Hi Guys

I need to replace the discs on my 500SL pantah, and therefore need to remove the front wheel.

Is it as easy as it looks and I just undo the two nuts by locking one and turning the other.

Any gotchas or other advice.

Thanks Guys

Ducati L-twin. ;)

500SL is rare, got any photos?

I had a 600TL for a few years - LOVELY bike to ride, (if a bit ugly).

Make sure you brace the bike well - the centre stand is a bit narrow.

I'm trying to remember how to do the front wheel now. Will post more if I remember, but I seem to remember it's fairly normal.

Whatever - it's always easier to remove the calipers, otherwise you stand a good chance of damaging the discs when you try to replace the wheel.
Non quod, sed quomodo.
