'76 R75/6 - repair or unload?

so, I'm new to the forum, but riding R75/5s and/6s for decades - now have a new to me R1150R coming home tomorrow - whoo! - the /6 has run fine for me but after it's winter nap seems the front caliper is stuck, she don't roll very well - and there's a nagging short that drains my battery and makes my lights wacky.
I'm not so much of a wrench guy but do aspire to improve my skills - the question: try to fix the /6 my self with attendant neophyte ignorance and frustrations, or sell as is? Don't think I need both bikes (but maybe I do?) Opinions?
thx, WillP in Vermont

Well, it's a moot point as it turns out - the guy I bought the R1150R from wanted the R75/6 - in spite of it's problems I was sorry to see it go, having ridden it for 20 years. But of course the R1150 is a dream. Onward and upward....
