Front fork attachment points

Post by Hoof »

On the R1150R front forks there are two flanges/attachments on the front - about 3.5 inches above the bottom - they are tapped to accept M5 bolts. Anybody know the purpose of these?

One on each fork leg? Don't know. Maybe used to mount the mudguard/fork protector on a model variant like the R1150RS?

Looks like it on photographs of the R1150RS.

I had one on loan and it was sensational to ride at speed. That fairing really slipped through the air. But lack of access to the grubby bits would make it very difficult to clean and maintain.

Have to admit I'm not a fan of the RS. Got caught in rain and got wetter than if I'd been on my Rockster. The fairing seemed to direct the wind straight onto me, especially my hands.

Not what I'd expect from a wind tunnel tested bike. :? I only rode it on a dry, sunny day. :)

I'm not a big fan of fairings either, like the so called naked bikes best.
