This Board (An Excellent Resource) and Newcomers

Postby angellr » Thu Jul 05, 2012 8:36 pm

Soapbox ON:

Noticed that there has been a good influx of new users here on this board. As it is an excellent place to help one keep and maintain their ride, I would encourage all of you if you have not already done so, to sign up and become a lifer (not hardly expensive and VERY cost effective when you consider a dealer diagnosis now and then). The benefits of said membership allows one to post/see forsale items and also participate in the banter known as Patricks Playhouse. This board requires $$$ and it is always nice to have paying members to keep this resource alive.

Join here: http://www.r1150r.net/contact.html

Soapbox OFF:

Now, I return you to your regularly scheduled reading. Thank you.

A bargain. Worth twice the price. Plus you can see and post on Buy/Sell.

Between the Buy/Sell section savings and the immediate problem diagnosis capabilities of the members here, I have saved hundreds of dollars. Not to mention the meetups and hookups on the road. It's great crew here.

Chipping in a few sheckels to keep the lights on is well worth it.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to write a note about new memberships. Some have asked how to become a member, so I thought I'd post this to inform people.

For donation and member information: http://www.r1150r.net/contact.html and then click on the donation button.
Basically, its $25/yr or $60/lifer and you can send payment securely via Paypal (A Paypal account is not required).

Once you are a member you will be able to visit and post in the member-only sections (Buy/Sell, Member's only and Pat's sections).

Membership may sound expensive, but think of the money you've saved by browsing these pages and consider if a reference like this did not exist. We need a flow of money to pay for general board expenses/upkeep, Internet traffic (39 GIGs last month!), and ISP charges and server upgrades, so join today! [Insert soothing commercial music here! :) ]

Thanks for everyone's support over the years. This site wouldn't be here without you!

Hello, first post. I have a 1997 r1100r. I'm wondering if an engine/gearbox from a r1150r can be retrofitted?

Is there a lag time between joining (paying for membership) and the opening of the user account to be able to post an add - does some change occur on the user site to allow this

One of the benefits of becoming a member of this group is tapping into all the vast knowledge base represented here.

What other BMW group will offer you the REAL truth as to what's in those tank radiators?

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY!! I'm in now!

in 2002, I stared at the 1150r brochure for days on end....Then went to the local shop here in Iowa, but left with only a tshirt ...wasnt the right time. :)

Then Life got ahold of me a little...had some kids...work...you know the story. I've had a couple of yamahas, Last Bike was the fz1 (great bike but not comfortable for 2 up or giving my kids a ride) but all this time, I always dreamed of that 1150...

so I bought one yesterday! 2002...red... low miles... BMW cases...

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. It was better than I imagined all those years ago.

I look forward to chatting on the boards with everyone, and learning(obsessing) as much as I can. :D

I have been a lifer since 2011 but don't really post (man of few words)

I have had BM's for over 10 years now, from 1150's and 1200's in all its variants GS/RT/R ........JUST LOVE THEM =D>

Well thanks for the site and all ride safe

Must get to the USA some day for a big ride ......my dream

Regards

Bigboy

Welcome newcomers! Mal, post a message in the general r1200r section. Or do a search - probably lots of info posted already.
