As to the original question - should you buy it? The answer is - It depends on the price. If well maintained and priced reasonable for the mileage, you might get a lot of service out of it. As mentioned, the engines are not the weak point in these bikes.

The weak points are beaten to death but most likely those failures are less numerous than 'internet legend'! And they usually show up by 30K or so. At 80K, the clutch splines or final drive has already failed and been replaced or is not likely to fail for a while.

Get it priced right and you could get a lot of miles out of it!

MIne will turn over 60K this fall and I would not hesitate to do a service and ride it cross country.

Went from 9600 miles to 48,xxx between Aug '06 and Mar '10.
No problems, blast to ride, made me smile every time I rode it.
Had a few worries here & there, but that's all it was, worry....
Buy it, ride the hell out of it, then ride some more; it never gets old.
If something does happen to break, fix it, it's just a machine.
The joy is not from the object itself, but the experiences you have while using it.

Is the rear fender chopped off short? Also is there a small paint scrub on the right side of the beak where the left rear end of another R bike would hit if you were to accidentally run into the back of it?
