Re: Low Speed Steering - Again

Hey team, I have another wrinkle to add to this quest for the truth. As you may recall, I used another gauge and realized my tire pressure was way off, by about 10 PSI. I filled up my tires and it felt great! To make sure this didn't happen again, I got a nice digital gauge, a TEKTON 5941 Digital Ti...

Re: Loose Steering or something like that

Hey team, Thanks for all the posts. I didn't think this request would start arguments about tire pressure. You would have thought I asked what the best brand of oil was!! I double checked my tire pressure, with another gauge, and, as Riceburner and Kirby predicted, the gauge I was using was of...

Re: Loose Steering or something like that

Hey team, Thanks for all the responses! What brand of tire and how many miles? Pressure? What do use for "proper". Sound like a under inflated tire (front). I ride on Pilot Road 4 Touring tires....They have about 1k miles on them. They are inflated to 30 PSI. I changed the tires when I pic...

Loose Steering or something like that

Hey team, As I work through my new (to me) bike, I am slowly but surely eliminating problems. Something that is odd that I can't find an answer to is this odd feeling I am experiencing with my steering. In short, it feels like the steering is getting sucked into the corners Here is the feeling: Ever...

Re: 1150 Fuel Delivery issue

Alright! Problem Solved. Took it to BMW Seattle. They had it fixed in a day & Gateway BMW paid for it, a full tank of gas, an a loaner! A great little F800R. I have to admit, I really did like that bike. But I'm glad I got my Rockster back! Thanks for all the input. Who would have thought that w...

Re: 1150 Fuel Delivery issue

Well, I just spoke with the BMW Dealership. They said take it to the local Beemer place & if it is messed up, they'll fix it. (I honestly should have done that in the first place, but a quick fix and an excuse to do maintenance was just too appealing.) But, you're right about all those points, i...

Re: 1150 Fuel Delivery issue

Okay, trying something here... Hey team, I have some updates & questions: In short, I was right in my hypothesis: Those sons of B*^ches at BMW installed the pump wrong. The flat end of the flange was pointing at about 1 O'clock or 2 o'clock...Meaning it was pointing up. So, in weighing whether t...

Those sons of B*^ches at BMW...It was installed wrong. The flat end of the flange was pointing at about 1 O'clock or 2 o'clock...Meaning it was pointing up. So, in weighing whether to take it to a nearby dealership and ask them to fix it (and bill the STL dealer) or fix it myself, I thought "he...

Re: Riding below freezing: do-able or suicidal...?

I ride all year round. Your biggest enemy is ice, black ice in particular. But, so long as that is not present, it's perfectly fine & safe. Your second concern is comfort. The heated grips start to become worthless below 40* F when you're going about 35 mph. A heated vest/jacket is a must below ...

Re: 1150 Fuel Delivery issue

Hey team, Sorry I got sent out of the office for a training and then for a trial and then for leave. (The last one was my choice). Anyway, I've finally got the fuel in the tank down enough to pull the tank and take a look. I should be doing this over the weekend. I'll report my findings for the bene...

Re: 1150 Fuel Delivery issue

Peelz, Thanks for the response! It did have a canister up until about 6 months ago. When I got it, I quickly removed it...The presence of the canister is what actually what prompted me to have the Fuel filter changed...(That and the 30k mile). Is there any sounds I should be listening for in the pu...

Re: 1150 Fuel Delivery issue

Good place to start. If they won't do anything then is not that hard to pull the tank and remove the assembly yourself. The pick up end of the hose has a sleeve type filter and when you install the pump and pluming into the tank it might?! (is ) be possible to get it tangled up so that the sleeve e...

Re: 1150 Fuel Delivery issue

When you get the symptoms, open the gas cap immediately and see if there is a partial vacuum. You may have a blocked vent line even if the canister is gone. I had the same thought! I tried that the last time I experienced the symptoms, it didn't change anything. Further I'm able to blow/suck into t...

Re: 1150 Fuel Delivery issue

Could it be the pump beginning to overheat? I know at the 1/2 way point the pump is no longer fully submerged in the gas & that it uses the gas the cool itself (through heat dissipation). I haven't heard any funny noise though from it, which is often a sign of a failing pump

Re: 1150 Fuel Delivery issue

Did you change the filter yourself? It really seems to indicate a feed problem. I can think of little else that would fit the symptoms No, this is the only part on the bike I didn't touch. I had Gateway BMW do it. They have a pretty good reputation amongst the riders in the Mid West. Doesn't mean t...

1150 Fuel Delivery issue

Hey guys, Long time no see! I recently wrapped up the TAT on my G650x! Hell of a trip, let me tell you. But when I got to my new Duty location, I received my 1150 and I've been having some issues. Here is the break down: My bike seemed to be chocking/hesitating at WOT. So after a brief inspection I ...

Servo Questions! Ah, help!!!

Hey team, Long time no talk! To catch everyone up, I was loving my Rockster...I put 23k miles on it in about 2 years took it to canada, mexico, Grand Canyon, smokey mountains...everywhere. Then a Deer decided I had it too good and ran into me. In short, the bike is totaled. :( I found another Rockst...
