Re: Odyssey Batteries

Most definitely worth the extra cost because it will last 6--10 years with minimal care. I'm don't agree with that statement. I've used more batteries in this bike than my old Suzuki ever had, and my driving hasn't really chamged. My first battery (BMW gel battery) lasted about 1.5 years; the deale...

Re: Hungry Mother 2012

...and some memories from numero uno: Hungry Mother Rain Ride #1 Good memories. That was the first time I met a bunch of other r1150r members but had previously ridden with camiletti. Camiletti and I decided to ride home via the BRP and my boneheaded decision to go into NC to get on it made a very ...

Re: Winter Starting

So far my batteries have lasted about three years, then they are unreliable in the winter. I guess they get tired and to cold temps makes it obvious. If it's over two years old, I would replace it. A thinner oil in the winter can help too, but the primary issue is the battery.

Running from Irene!

A few weeks ago I was supposed to go to OBX from Thursday to Sunday, but Irene kind of wrecked those plans. Since I had the time off and needed a break from work, I figured I would "head west" a little while on the bike, and eventually turn left and make a loop back. It was my 'hurricane ...

Re: Odyssey longevity??

Mine is going on four years and I'm planning on replacing it this fall. Towards the end of last winter it was having a hard time starting but the warmer months have helped it along. I was hoping it would last longer, so I'm not sure of the extra cost so I'm looking at a westco gel battery.

Did I leave anybody out?
I think we needed a:
18.George
and
19.Ringo
to make that complete.

Great times; I only took pictures of the "lawn tractor with a V8" at Shady Valley.

Re: Hungry Mother #8 August 19-21 2011

Another great weekend with great company. We filled loop C and I think kept the last site from being occupied since it was a bunch of "bikers" staying there. We had great weather while there; I think we are breaking the "Hungry Mother Rain Ride" theme of the weekend, not that I'm...

Re: Brake Light Staying On

Mine stuck a few years back and since it was still under warranty, I took it to the dealer. They 'adjusted' the switch and its been working great ever since.

Re: Hungry Mother #8 August 19-21 2011

My summer plans were still up in the air, but I've finalized things, and I'm comign to Hungry Mother this year. It will be sad with a key person missing, and that's one of the reasons I'm going; kind of like a tribute to him... How many camping spots are still available? Who do I pay? How much do I ...

Re: Major Failure Poll

I'll vote (already have). No major problems. 2004 R1150R with ABS, original owner. I'm just under 95,000 miles and plan on blowing past the 100k mark by this fall season. The bike's been great to me, and I still can't find another motorcycle that I'd rather ride as much as this one. My wife keeps te...

Re: Brocken latch on BMW Panniers

I've had two of the latches break on me. Once was while on the road; luckily I recovered the case and had to replace the lid and latch assembly. I picked up a used standard lid from eBay, and I had an extra latch assembly from my OEM smaller left bag base. Then I had the OTHER side case latch broke ...

I think I'm going to have to pass on this year again. My wife and I are celebrating our 20 year anniversary, which is the weekend of the bash! Everyone have a good time and hopefully I'll catch up with a bunch of you throughout the year.

Count me in for Hungry Mother though.

It's hard to go wrong in West Virgina, unless you're on the interstate.

Re: work from home? why not... ride from home!? across US

But yes, I am going to DC too. Coming from the North though. East coast is completely unplanned right now. I just know I wanna stop in all the big cities... Boston, NYC, Philly, Washignton. You may regret that! The BRP is worthwhile, but try to avoid it on weekends, and stay away from Skyline drive...

Re: Annual Hungry Mother Weekend (Virginia)

I think I got home around 3:45. I managed some interstate, some back roads and ended up (I'm not sure how...) on I-95! Traffic wasn't too bad. Unpacked/aired out tent, etc. Need to get it all ready again in two weeks for the Sherando Lake rally!
