Re: OEM Brake Lines/I need to hear you again please.
My 2002 came with a metal crossover tube from the front right caliper to the front left caliper (that ran over the top of the fender behind the cowl) that I reused when I replaced my front brake lines with Speigler lines, who BTW sent me the wrong kit that contained a long line from the master cylin...

Re: How to determine which hose goes to which port when replacing gas tank?
One is a drain line from the rim around the gas cap and the other is a vapor line from the charcoal canister. Blow on one of the tubes with the gas cap open and feel for air escaping from the small drain hole in the filler's rim. That tube just drains to the ground. And if you then seal the gas cap ...

Re: Advice please! On 2004 R1150R
I think that many of the above comments are mostly right, but you should factor in your physical ability, inseam length, agility and nimbleness, reaction time, and aptitude for learning muscle memory. If you realize from the start that this is not a "starter" bike and train at a pace that ...

Re: Smart turn system
The brown wire with white stripe connects the "Cancel" button to the turn signal controller to shut off a flashing turn signal when pressed (this sounds like your "Turn Signal Reset") . You can find it in the bundle that connects to the turn signal controller unit located in the ...

Re: Quick ? Re: lowering foitpegs
I considered this too, but after dragging the standard pegs a few times (and breaking off a feeler) I decided they wouldn't work for me, so I went with a higher seat, which helps. I'd be interested to know what you think when you do some twisties with them.

Re: Battery neg pole connector
This is the same connector that was original on my '02. Maybe it's engineered to keep it from contacting the underside of the tank?
I don't know why that should matter since the frame is negatively grounded (no sparks), but you know the Germans are belt and suspenders Manner

Re: Anyone removed the O2 sensor?
The O2 sensor also ensures enough O2 gets to the catalytic converter to produce combustion there. Without it, the converter would sooner or later clog up with soot. If you disconnect it, you should also remove the cat before it causes excessive exhaust back-pressure.

Re: 02 R1150R - Throttle Sync
I've done several throttle body synchronizations this way and my bike runs smooth as butter. I read this procedure in my Clymer's manual along with the cautions against adjusting the painted set screws. I thought everyone knew about that and posted these cautions for the newbie. Since you've made th...

Re: 02 R1150R - Throttle Sync
Kirby asked me, What did you offer? I offered him the following correct advice, The Big Brass Air Screws only control bypass air flow at idle, so once you've got the vacuum equal at idle with those, then you just need to adjust the Right Hand Side cable ferrule (located above the right throttle body...

Hey Kirby, this is what I read you recommended to Decaf in your 1st post: If the throttle stop screw on the TPS side(left) has not been tampered with your in the ball park and just hook the syn stuff up and syn using the stop screw on the on the right side. Then you reiterated with, If you will just...

Re: Let the games begin!
And lastly, it appears that some replacement parts use a retaining ring or circlip....at least as shown in some parts photos. Looking as closely as these old eyes can see, mine doesn't appear to be any more than a press fit of the rubber sealing ring. Circlips were used on later models, probably af...

Re: Let the games begin!
Good idea! And I'd suggest if you suspect any bits of broken window made their way into the crankcase, flush through the borehole with compressed air and after all is done, let the first pint of engine oil drain right through to flush those bits out of the bottom of the pan. Good luck!

Re: Let the games begin!
It's likely that your old window is made of plastic and can be removed the way you planned; that's what I tried to do too, but my window was so crazed that it shattered when I levered it and had to be removed in bits and pieces. But the new window I installed was glass. I didn't have a socket that w...

Re: Let the games begin!
That's a good plan. I replaced mine last year. First, the replacement I got from BMW is glass, while the old one that had cracked (crazed) was plastic. I didn't know this when I went to install it using a wooden dowel for a drift and it shattered. So I made a drift from a short piece of PVC pipe by ...

I'd recommend you do a little research about the bushing replacements for the swing arm bearings. There have been some problems with the ones from rubber chicken garage (sorry I can't remember the particulars), but I was considering them and waited a few years to see if they were working and read so...

Re: Spark Plug Gap
I installed a pair of these some years ago and one of them blew the iridium pellet off its tip and disabled the ignition system. I don't know where that little pellet went but I hope it is softer than an aluminum piston!
