Re: The 2015 Lost R1200R

Thank you very much gentleman for the kind words, I might not always say it, but it's nice to know that my passions and what makes me happy are appreciated by others. Yes, life hasn't always been easy, still isn't at times of course but I consider myself incredibly lucky to have the life I somehow h...

Re: The 2015 Lost R1200R

Thank you for the kind words! So an update is ready... Over 4500 miles on the new RR now, getting ready for fresh tires and it's 6k service. The motor is opening up beautifully, coming of age if you will, I'm getting 58mpg on two lane roads and about 45mpg @ 80mph on the western US Interstates. Shif...

Re: Adventure riding on a R12R?

My ears were burning... It's my position in this day and age that type of tires have little to do with how a 12R handles on (dry) dirt, gravel or hardpack. You can't change the suspension, the geometry or the front tire size so having marginally more traction on dirt which sacrifices tarma...

Re: The 2015 Lost R1200R

Hi Don, I did ride in rain on and off for two days and I didn't notice a stripe of road grim on my backpack or my bag on the rear seat, like I do on my other bike with no substantial rear fender. Heck the only clean part of the bike was on top from tail to headlight from all the rain and dirt from t...

Re: tires again?

Generally I replace the front every other rear, as long as it's worn evenly and not cupping. No doubt fresh rubber all around feels good, but if the front is still round with no issues I don't feel the need to replace it with the rear. With the miles I put on it's not really cost effective and my mo...

Re: A Water Cooled Lost R1200R

Now, with the new love flowing in my comments this new model doesn't change how great the previous R bikes still are and everyone with any BMW R****R should enjoy riding the best all around bike BMW has ever made. :) http://lostrider.smugmug.com/Galleries/2015-R1200R/i-pJc9QM5/0/XL/DSC00011-XL.jpg h...

Re: The R1200R Photo Discussion Thread!

Can you tell me how you mounted the case similar to the pelican? I really like that style. Thank you. Darren If you're talking to me, here's the old thread with the mounting info, still the same mount but now I use a HPRC 2200 case with a panel mount SAE connecter to get juice to the 12v>USB charge...

Finn, sweet lookin' ride!! Begs the question, "who gets to break it in?" ;) This is how I feel right now  Thank you for the kind words everyone, I'm a lucky guy to have this bike! I broke it in already, following the guidelines of "riding on mountain twisty roads", I'm ...

2015 R1200R Owners Thread

I'll wait until I get it run-in before I start too much with the opinions, but of course wanted to share some photos of the new member of the family. That whole bring your checkbook to the test drive thing. Oh yeah. :D http://lostrider.smugmug.com/Galleries/2015-R1200R/i-SkrTr6S/0/XL/DSC09686-XL.jpg...

Re: R1200 Water Cooled

If you look closely at the photo you can see my NineT, which hasn't been washed in while. You can see the road grime from riding in heavy rain, a little mud, lots of sand from Baja last week and yet still the oil cooler is relatively clean. It's slightly lower than the radiator on the 12R so I'd say...

Yeah, it's been Nancy's bike since the NineT came home... but it's days in the Lost household are very numbered, there's a new 2015 R1200Rwc with our name on it. :D A few more. http://lostrider.smugmug.com/photos/i-JNB2G5n/0/XL/i-JNB2G5n-XL.jpg http://lostrider.smugmug.com/photos/i-T6Zs23g/0/XL/i-T6...

Thanks!

She is 5'6" and that screen on the 12R is the BMW touring screen. A perfect compromise between body protection and clean air for the helmet.

Cheers!
