I own 2 bikes! A vintage 84 Honda Nighthawk S. I got historic plates, so there are no yearly registration fees in my state.
But, it just snowed, I got no bike. Having a bike in the shop when it's snowing, is not so hard to take.

Re: They say this mini jumpbox will work for a motorcycle
Correct. This is why I bought one that has multiple uses, i.e. cell phone charging, etc. But, if I let my bike sit for 3 months without a charger on it, the clock will drain the battery. It also came handy once when a friend had a battery issues while on an extended trip. Being able to jump a bike i...

Re: They say this mini jumpbox will work for a motorcycle
What are the milliamps specs? Several years ago I bought a 16000Ma jump starter/charger kit at batterymart.com for 90 bucks. Came with all DC charger plug sizes, and every Apple adapter available. Been using it for autos and bikes for several years now, and also use it for a camping charging station...

Re: ABS or not ABS?
No ABS on my 2004. It was a showroom model, and it was a $1500 option to get another one with it.
No regrets, the brakes work fine.

Re: Ethanol in our tanks and fuel system
And the EPA is mandating E15! I found a product that have been using for a couple of years called Liquid Performance. My bike runs great on this stuff. I really noticed the power delivery on my vintage 84 Honda, which in no way is set up for Ethanol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_krjUxoHtk Non e...

Re: Buying a R1150R
Welcome! I will let the hard core wrenches here give you better visual inspection info. I do know: Most BMW owners are sticklers about service history. Self mechanics usually have a folder of receipts. Those who don't wrench, are well known along with their bike, at a local dealer. Ask about who and...

Re: Riding Motorcycles When You Have Young Kids At Home....
PL is the best backrest for the R1150R you can get, if one can get one. They have reached unobtainium status.
The BMW salesman saw the Honda backrest, and "threw" one in to seal the deal.

Re: Riding Motorcycles When You Have Young Kids At Home....
Another terrific video. Thank you. Your wife has a great bike!! Great taste! As a single dad, the only way I could ride was to get a baby sitter, him staying at his mom's house, or take my son with me. I guess I can openly talk about it now he has grown up! Bought a '99 cb 750 when my son was 6, aft...

Readers of American Motorcyclist magazine know this is a real possibility.Sunbeemer wrote:I think it's more likely that rather than promoting motorcycles, they'll be banned as being too dangerous.
Drivers can't see them over the top of their phones and the riders don't even wear seat belts!

Re: Tube tire deciphering
Thanks. I took the service manual, and the dead Metzler tube, to Deptford Honda, and got the correct tube. 12 bucks. Metzler tubes have different numbers than other tubes, and the 3.00 x 17 is not a tube size. The GS takes a bigger 1, and I learned that different manufacturers use different metrics,...

Re: Tube tire deciphering
Thanks Harry, 26 bucks ouch! Bike Bandit sells 3.00-17 tubes for a much lesser price, but they use a different numbering scheme, plus I can get a 10% AMA discount. http://www.bikebandit.com/tires-tubes/motorcycle-tubes/sedona-tire-motorcycle-tube There is a 3.00 x 17 in the list. What is this number?

Tube tire deciphering
I have not owed a tube tired 2 wheel machine since I had a bicycle. My son just picked up a pristine 2001 F650 GS, and got his first flat in the rear tire. Manual states it's a 130/80 R17 tire, and it also says its 3.00" x 17" MT We got the tube out, and none of these numbers are on it! Fi...
