Re: Happy Christmas!

Happy Belated Christmas Andy! I bounce in and out of here at times, but I end up as a taxi service for kids to their activities more and more everyday which cuts into time on the forum. Good to hear from you.

Re: Planning First Long Ride

Sorry to hear that your ride is falling through. That sucks. On the other hand, you could head to Staunton, VA to the Beakster Bash in the middle of May.

Re: tires again

I love the Conti-Motions. To me, they are equivalent to the also-excellent Pirelli Diablo Stradas that I was using before (nearly identical weight, construction, and road feel) and they cost half as much. The front lasted almost 10,000 miles. I don't know why they aren't more popular than that. Car...

Re: tires again

The front lasted almost 10,000 miles I don't believe I have ever gotten over 7,000 miles on a tire, front or rear! Regardless of brand! I am in the same boat as Vann. 7k and the tires are shot, but i always push it a little. I did have the Bridgestone BT-021's only last 4000 and 4500 miles respecti...

Re: Battery tender recommendation

I've had a couple of Battery Tender Plus' and have charged the bike through the accessory port. The price on the link was a little high though. I know some folks who have used the Battery Tender JR, and it is only $30 at ironpony.com. You may need the Powerlet adapter to charge through the accessory...

Re: Michelin pilot 4 tires

The Pilot 4 should be fine since the 1,2, and 3s were. I have had 2 sets of the Bridgestone BT 023, and they have been working great. Sticky, and pretty good mileage for me (7500-8000 miles for a set). They have performed well in some horrible days of rain.

Re: 2015 Bash May 15-17, Staunton Virginia

I think I have been to all of the Bashes, except the one in NJ. I am in the process of booking a room, unless someone wants to split one. I kinda forgot to do this earlier. I think that I have been around since 2003, but I have to look up the date. March 19, 2005 for the new board, but sometime in 2...

Re: Started sputtering after car wash, now won't start

The number one lesson to be learned here is don't powerwasher your bike. A little simple green or S100 will get things clean enough with regular pressure from the tap.

Re: My seat is crushing my-well you know...

I use an Alaskan Leather Sheepskin buttpad on long slab days. On days through the twisties, there are generally no problems.

The Sargeant seems to be the most popular aftermakets seat.

Re: Hungry Mother 2014 is August 15-17

Also be prepared to ride in the rain. For many years this was refereed to as the Hungry Mother Rain Ride. I had to dump out my borrowed tent the first year. It had 2 inches of rain in it. Haha - that was the first time I met you; we shared a camp-site and you left grumpy to stay in a motel! I'm pro...

Steve,
Sorry I didnt check the board. I have a PR 2 in the garage that would have been enough to get you home. Whoops. I got home at 1:50 on Sunday. 5:20 minutes for 356 miles including stops. Not a bad average, but could have been a little better.

Re: Hungry Mother 2014 is August 15-17

I'm in. This is my favorite ride every year, tremendous roads, an I feel lucky that I have only not been served my food once. The location of that restaurant will not be revealed online, but I won't go back. Also be prepared to ride in the rain. For many years this was refereed to as the Hungry Moth...

Re: Has anyone seen or attempted to fit an RT topbox to an R

I just came across this thread, and I think that it looks great. My wife wants to do a little more riding with me, but she would like to have a backrest/top case and this May be the way to go. I need to look for a used box and the right saddlebag rails.
