Lean fuel to air mixture
I submitted a post regarding the fitting of a aftermarket silencer and got a good reply but I am still not convinced that all is well. Apparently all boxers after 2001 suffer from a lean fuel to air mixture (something to do with strict EU regulations) and fitting an aftermarket exhaust makes the mix...

Swings and roundabouts
I have been reading some interesting posts re modifications on the boxer engine for more performance. Someone wrote that for every gain there is a loss. Higher top end less torque low down etc. I want to fit a titanium acrapovic silencer to my Rockster, but am a bit concerned because I fitted a free...

very informative. Will you use a synthetic oil in your CBX once restored? I have asked a few people whether I can use a modern oil in my older bikes, R90S R50/2 and a 1936 New Imp and seem to be getting a different answer every time. a BMW mechanic once told me that a monograde 40 is the best oil fo...

1) seeing you have a bike with sporty handlebars, I suggest you leave the rockster the way it is. Much less strain on the old wrists. 2) I have a smaller Wunderlich screen on my bike but it is not adjustable 3) the photo showing the inside of your garage is very interesting. Looks like you have got ...

Hi, someone else complained and offered a solution which is what I did with mu 1100RS. The RS had a smooth seat and the rider would slide forward. I do not have this problem with the Rockster but because I'm tall I find that my knees touch the oil cooler cover which can be irritating on long trips. ...

I heard today that BMW will pay for the labour and I will have to cough up for the parts which is thankfully a lot cheaper than the labour. It took a few e-mails and phone calls on my part after the agents washed their hands in the matter. It goes to show that one must persevere and the dealers aren...

Thanks guys for your replies. I have since discovered that both the gearbox output and pinion seals need to be replaced, at quite a cost! I am corresponding with BMW right now regarding a warranty claim. My bike was bought end July 2005 and I only took the bike to the agents last week so I have exce...

Hi Hydra, I'm also a new member and owner of a 2005 citrus green bike. I think that the green color makes the bike stand out. I know a lot of people feel that green is a bad luck color but if you are not supersticious I think you should put the green back onto your tank and side panels. I do however...

Hi, yes I think you have had good replies but if I could add my tuppence worth, after selling my 100RS I really missed the fairing seeing I live on the coast in South Africa and it is usually windy. I fitted a Wunderlich screen to my Rockster and am happy with the result. In fact I think the bike lo...

Driveshaft Leak
Hi, I bought a 2005 Rockster with 3000 k's on the clock and did a few short runs without any problems. My brother and I travelled 3500 k,s recently doing a country wide trip and during this trip i notices oil on the rear wheel which apparently leaked out of the rear rubber boot. I cleaned it off and...
