The irony gets rather thick here.... The summer after my senior year in high school I visited one of my classmates and there was this bike sitting in his parents front yard. I inquired about it and he said he ended up buying it after he hit the guy that was riding it  :? He said he's sell it to...

The SV sounds like a great grocery getter! i.e. the ultimate in functionality and a great general purpose bike. Actually, that's the bike I would own if the R hadn't popped up on Craigslist at what I considered the same price I would have paid for a new SV. If I could trade out my '82 GL500 behemoth...

Great pics!! Sounds like quite a trip with all the adverse weather...your braver than I by far. I've eaten at the Dillard house for dinner...years ago. Seem to recall needing a wheelbarrow to haul me out of there too :D Bloody awesome that place ;) You know the film Deliverance was shot in that area...

Gypsy, I would add a couple things to Mark's advice which sounded good to me ;) When your approaching a turn, brake to a speed that will see you through the turn before you get there. You don't want to try and brake during a turn as it will lock up the wheels and you'll potentially slide the directi...

This whole oil change thing is like a right of passage for the newbies....me included. I rode the bike home from work, parked it the driveway, gave it it's dose of seafoam which it sorely needed, and then changed the oil. Apparently, I didn't let it drain long enough as I had oil to the top of the s...

Welcome and thanks for the heads up! I have an '04 and probably need to do the clutch and brake fluid change out. Since there's an inch of ice outside right now, maybe it would be a good time to do that, lol. I do ride year round though so the slick stuff is slick until it's gone ;) I'll be in Tampa...

But, yes, you are correct, I am often quite clueless when it comes to women. My wife will confirm that. Same here.... I've had no interaction with other motorists as far as dialog goes. I get lots of stares from the neighborhood kiddies but that's about it. I have to admit it has a better bite with...

I've got the Tour Master Venture pants and I'm not all that tall either and have a similar issue... Anyway, the knee armor can be adjusted up and down as there are velcro closures in 4 positions. She should find a happy medium in there somewhere between standing and sitting position as they do shift...

I only have a 5 mile commute to work so I did the 26 degree's on Monday and the 35 degree's on Tuesday. I don't have my handguards yet :( so I rode the Honda on Monday. It takes a little while for those heated grips to work effectively on the R....usually about half way to work for me. I have decent...

I don't know about an oil cap temp gauge...haven't seen one. I bookmarked this link though and hopefully will be doing this mod in the next couple months: http://home.mindspring.com/~jabrooks/tech/oil_temp.htm Haven't decided whether to go digital though or the clock replacement route...

Welcome dnat928! I see it's your first post :) I haven't had to deal with this quite yet but I believe I'll be going down a similar path as you shortly ;) I don't think you need two way shut off's either for those. A little fuel dripping here and there is no worry ;) Gallons on the ground...differen...
