Re: Long Way Down preview

I went, and enjoyed it. I've actually seen the 6 episode series on PAL format DVD. It's interesting they show the rear shock failures, but they don't show the pre-trip installation of Ohlins. The tell-tale yellow springs are shown in the movie but the average viewer is going to think the BMW's broke...

Re: Did anyone notice if we exceed our bandwidth in June?

Rob, that is a good question that has been discussed before and is difficult to answer. Only Doug could really tell us if he has access to some good log info or site statistics. Since images are not hosted on this site, I suspect they do not affect bandwidth either linked or embedded. It is a long s...

Re: I want to talk about knives

I also have the desire to get fixed blade boot/neck knife to fix inside a tank bag, not for protection, a small one for general camping use...opening bags, spreading peanut butter, and such. DSKYZD May I ask why a fixed blade for those types of uses? How big of a blade are you looking for in inches...

Did anyone notice if we exceed our bandwidth in June?

I didn't notice if we did. How great is that? Doug upped the limit (paid more money to hosting service) and we went a month without a major outage in the last few days at the end. If you didn't notice by making a donation and becoming a member you could win a Yamaha XT225 Dual Sport motorcycle. It's...

Re: Pavement-1.........................................ChiTown-0

Sad that your bike trip is over. How's that foot holding up?

Also, how has all your gear performed? I know your kit is pretty well sorted but is there anything that stood out on this trip? Good or bad?

Thank you both very much!! Those devices should take out a lot of the "fiddliness" of that task. Awesome!

Re: Poly V-Belt (Alternator Belt) Replacement and Tensioning

Yes, thanks awagnon for reminding me about the different belts. My bike was made in June or July of 2002 (sticker is mostly gone), I was riding it in July of 03 so it definitely the old style belt. I got it from www.beemerboneyard.com. It is the Dayco Poly Cog. Size is 4PK0610 and I think the BMW on...

Re: Hungry Mother Ride - Aug. 15-17 -Marion, VA

I heard from someone who ate here this week that this is a decent Mexican restaurant. Thinking back to our good experience that time down the road in Chilhowie this might be a possible dinner stop. I put their number in my phone so we could call ahead to warn them of our group's arrival. El Puerto 3...
