Re: Directional Signal cancellation.

Interesting. BUT the R1200R is can-bus and directionals are computer controlled.

Directional Signal cancellation.

Recently the wire to the rear wheel speed sensor was cut. Came loose from the clip and rubbed on the rear rotor. Break Failure light, easily diagnosed with GS911 and had a spare on hand. Afterward noticed my turn signals no longer canceled. I noticed one other person had the same problem but didn't ...

Re: Battery Test

???? I don't know about disconnecting anything on start up. With all the electronic stuff going on your taking the risk that the bike might take it for a major problem and turn stuff off. Not a technical answer by any means, but your question shows you also have concerns. Can't you take the battery ...

Re: Noise from Michelin Road 5

Yes those wheel bearings came with the 2007 R1200R, 140,000 miles later when I removed them they were just as tight as the new ones going in.

Noise from Michelin Road 5

Just throwing this out to see if I'm the only one. I noticed a whining noise that seemed to be coming from front end and decided at 140,000 miles it might be the wheel bearings. I installed a set of premium (not internet specials) SKF bearings and the noise was still there. The sound is almost non- ...

Look up the RT tires - same size very often a higher load rating.

Re: Front wheel bearing

went to a local business that deals only with bearings - asked for best he had and ended up with SKF bearings. After replacing both bearings (that seemed OK when I took them out) the noise was still there. Started thing about what was new on the bike and the answer was the Michelin Road 5 tires. I w...

Re: Engine Running Hot Post Oil Change.

Basic stuff but have to start somewhere. Is oil at proper level ? If filter was changed is it an OEM filter ?? Was anything else done during the service ?? Is oil pressure lamp on, or flickering?? Everything was OK before service?? If anything synthetic should possibly make it run cooler. These bike...

Re: Old Fourm members

It seems like a few of you guys the years are catching up on me. Rapidly approaching four score years and 1,000 mile days are getting on the iffy side, I fell asleep on the bike in Kansas last year. My R1200R is still running great at 140,000 miles but it's getting heavier and the ground seems to be...

Re: Lighting Upgrade Question

I've wondered the same about auxiliary lighting in the rear. I've ridden behind people that if they hit the brakes while making a turn the display of winking and blinking lights didn't exactly scream 'I'm stopping'. My initial reaction was more like ' Wow - look at that'.

Re: TPM

Good info - anything that keeps the money in my pocket and not in the dealers cash register is a good thing. I understand that they have to pay bills and make a living BUT sometimes the costs for parts and labor are a 'little' ( :D ) out of line. Plus you get to learn how something works if you can ...

Seeing as it sat a while maybe (just maybe) this could be relevant. Posted by Don Eilenberger a while back it's about cleaning the grease in the stepper motor.

Re: August 1 or April 1?

The Motor Company is getting desperate. Motorcycle sales are dropping off faster in the USA than in the rest of the world. Harleys customer base is rapidly ageing out of riding and younger people, in general, just aren't interested in motor sports. Those that are interested, want high performance an...

Front wheel bearing

Has anyone used other than the OEM bearing in the front wheel. OEM is around $25 but a 6205 bearing usually goes for less than $10.

I like Max BMW because they were the first to put the BME parts micro fiche on line. Take some time to figure out how it works. There's a gold mine of info there. Re: A new addition to the clan....

The Parabellum Scout has been on the bike almost since the day it rolled out of the showroom. I'm not averse to exploring a dirt road or crossing a stream so the fairing has taken a few good hits over the years (Ok some scratches). Also miles of washboard dirt roads that I'm sure would have destroye...
