Re: fork oil change r850r
problem solved...I posted this message in the r1150r site as suggested and was pleased to find out that this procedure is not required as long as you have no other issues ex. leaky seals. I'm good to go and brother I'm ready. Thanks!

Re: fork oil change r850r
omg1010 Thank you, Thank You, Thank You! I'm getting all my maintenance done before the "warmer weather" gets here and had intended to change the fork oil. I have 95,000 miles on this bike and thought this was something that needed doing. I always had hondas and other brands and I changed ...

Re: fork oil change r850r
CRazyCam Not much info out there for the r850r. Too bad, It's a great bike and mine is going strong at 95,000 miles. I would love to see BMW bring back a mid size R bike. Bigger is not always better but the trend seems to be going that way. I also get great gas milage and these days that's important...

2004 R1150RT
I follow this thread alot and cannot help but wonder if the RT,s are plauged with the same final drive problems and "other problems' that some on this site seem to have. I would assume they share the same drive train but I can't recall anybody having these problems. Any Comments?
Thanks !
Thanks !

Re: r850r rear master cylinder
Railbender...thanks for the info! I was going to order the master cylinder from beemerboneyard but I found another site called EngelandMoto.com and paid $30.00. They have an asking price or "make offer" feature and I was able to get it for less. I installed it today and I'm back on the roa...

Re: Long trip accessories?
I don't know about you but I absolutely, positively MUST have a fresh cup of coffee in the A.M. When camping I always pack my "jetboil" which is a self-contained cup/stove unit which will boil water or soup in about a minute. Works for me!

Try laminar lip.com for a add on to your existing windshield. I have one on my r850r and love it.

Re: Let's make a list of big $ repairs
What bike/model do you consider "bulletproof". IMO BMW can no longer claim that title and that is a damn shame! What changed......Where is the superior German engineering of the past...Why is the R1150r trouble plagued? I,m closely watching the r1200r forumn and PRAY they are the saviour o...

Re: New BMW-Killer from Honda
Love my oilhead but my next bike will probally NOT be a BMW.
Dealer support/network is an issue and sadly ours is poor IMO. Honda is on my list (st1300) and this new bike looks interesting!
Are you listening BMW ?

1996....forest green. I had intended to "move up" to a bigger bike but am more than happy with the r850r. I'm told they are very desirable over in Europe. Good Luck!

Re: Looking at a 2004 R1150R and 1997 R850R
Another vote for the r850r. I bought mine 5 years ago as a "starter bike" after a 20 year layoff. The idea was to buy a smaller bike and re-learn what was once natural (riding) and also to see if I was really "into" bikes again. Fast Forward....I now have 85,000 miles with ZERO p...
