Linked brakes?? Not sure of your question... Sorry - if the bike has linked brakes you can eat the rears a lot quicker than you'd think. I actually favour the OEM pads - they're thicker than most aftermarket parts - up to twice as thick as some. My problem with BMW OEM pads is that they eat brake r...

I've had both leakages.... first my gearbox via the driveshaft (during my hollydays in the UK), now 2 times in 1 week at the final drive: rear-disc was grease> seal replaced, 3 days later: rear-disc grease and oil-drops en trails on the tire...   they (the dealer) mounted a seal ...

The R1150GS handguards will fit. I had to shape the left one a bit with a dremel to allow room for the cables, but once that was done it just took some patience to get them bolted on properly. I love the guards. Rode through a heavy hailstorm this summer with no pelting on my hands. They look good,...

Anyone know if the PIAA mounts are custom or available on the market anywhere?? when I get another pair to augment the poor full-beam on the Rockster I'll be wanting to mount them in a similar position. (well, at that sort of height anyway, last time I drilled the headlamp mounting arm but would rat...

I try and use my rear brakes often, to increase the lifespan of the front. I agree with that too but the front seems to last way longer than the rear on my Roadster for some reason. I have 18K on mine and the front seems to be almost new while the rears are about 1/3 left. This is a common problem ...

Used it only yesterday to inform an errant pedestrian that she was straying from the path of safety and security. ;) There's something about the sound of a skidding tyre that seems to get into peds' brains. ;) Have also used it to slide the bike into a parking line up ...... doing it in front of my ...

Hit a youngish Roe deer doe a year or two back on a loaner R1150R. It was dark, coming down a fast, open single carriageway A-road and this deer just suddenly appeared in the headlight coming out of the verge on the other side of the road. I think I killed it outright by smacking the right cylinder ...

Re: Mixing Tyres?

I don't suppose a bike with the weight and torque of the Rockster is going to go easy on sports rubber (Pilot Sports) - but 1,000 miles tyre life! Of course I don't want another one of those and as the front is good my question is...can I mix a sport touring rear with the sports front to get the lo...

Try filtering in London with any panniers at all. ;) makes me laff every time I see a GS with all the panniers still on!! It's easy to say that the City lids (still fully lockable and waterproof for those that seem to think they're not) will help - and they will a bit, but the panniers will still st...

You can get "official" "Touring" lids for the BMW system cases - they're wider at the top of the case than the standard ones.

You could TRY a longer Paralever arm - that would change the height of the rear end? Not sure what bikes have a longer arm though: RT?? (the GS one is 5 mm shorter - but that equates to about 2" of difference in the ride height!!) Searching shows the R and RT arms are the same lenght. so no he...
