Just a reminder for any one with the time and/or interest. I plan on leaving Ozark on Sunday and heading to Western North Carolina for a couple (more)days of mountain riding. Anyone wanting to turn the Ozark ride into a longer sport tour of the southeastern US are welcome and invited to join us (or ...

+ 1 on the bicycle shorts. Very effective. Buy the cheaper ones, as they'll have less padding.

We tried something along those lines last April at our place in the mountains in North Carolina. The basis for the idea probably came from following Dean's B&B thread. And from the ADV riders too. I offered up our house first, then when it was filled up, I rented a vacation house up the hill, th...

The LEO's are getting strict in the No. Ga mtns, I've heard. And I know for a fact there's strict enforcement in the SW NC mtns.

Check Accuweather for avg temps day or night for the dates you'll be there. They also have good hour by hour forecast for any given day, imo.

I installed handguards for the '04 1150 GS on my Rockster with the throttlemeister. You do need the throttlemeister adapter. The installation will reguire a little triming where the guards meet the bango bolts for the clutch & front brake. Otherwise it's a straightforward installation. I like th...

Very nice, Phil. A teacher friend told me once (in jest, I think ) that those who can, do. Those who can't ,teach. Looks like you've proved her wrong. Judy just returned from helping my #2 grand daughter get settled in for her first semester at the Savannah (GA)School of Fine Arts. She hopes to make...

The input shaft of the transmission must be in perfect alignment with the center line of the crankshaft, or the misalignment will cause the clutch plate to crack and break near the splines. When I used to work on large trucks with Cummins diesel engines, the manual required that a dial indictator be...

Nice bike.
I rode past that sign a couple weeks ago, on my Rockster.
It's great motorcycling country. Did you stay on the BRP, or did you venture off the beaten path?

V/M Thanks for the ride report. At 50 mph for 900 miles, that FJR probably was not in a higher gear than 3rd . I imagine you could have done the whole thing in first or second gear. The Trace is on my list of roads to ride, preferably between sunup & sundown :). My Harley FXDX would be per...

I didn't expect you guys to make it after doing the Hungry Mother, but I'm looking forward to getting you both down to Topton sooner or later.

Try to work in a couple of days on the way back from Arkansas in November.

Back roads rideAug 24,25,26 '07 SW NC

I know the Hungry Mother ride is this weekend, just a couple hundred miles up the road. But next weekend me & two others are riding the backroads of SW North Carolina and probably a little of east Tn and north Ga. We'll be staying on pavement, unless I really screw up. If someone shows up with a...

If you do volunteer, how 'bout Mendicino Cal. I like that town.
