Re: 150 MPH
150 mph indicated, or 150 mph measured by a GPS or radar gun?

Re: The R1200R is for old men!
I just threw together a minute's worth of R1200R footage from a recent shoot. So, in addition to the R1200R being the best all-around bike I've ever owned, it's also one of the most handsome: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OY9Ai6_E0BM Oh yeah, I'm old... old enough to appreciate a great bike. >-- Pe...

Re: New - Acerbis Hand Guards for R1200R
I had a chance to install the Hand Guards today, more or less... It appeared to me that BMW bars preclude using any of the Acerbis hardware that came in the package -- unless I wanted to cut off the bar-end welds -- which I didn't. I used the stock BMW bar-end bolt, a lock washer, a small bit of hea...

Re: Rick Mayer is a fraud
I have no opinion about Rick Mayer. I don't know him nor have I sat on one of his seats. I do have plenty of opinions about why a custom seat is probably the most important investment you can make in your bike. It's all documented in this video that I did a couple years ago: http://www.youtube.com/w...

What did they cost you? I just picked up a set at Ride West BMW for ~$144 plus tax.

Re: Made in America
I checked them out and they have a very rugged looking skid plate. Might be worth a call. http://www.altrider.com/ Ah... so you are the reason they called me. I live within a mile of their location, so I'll loan them my bike or give 'em pics to see if the GS skid plate will work. I also spied a coo...

Re: Short Video
Peckhammer: Great vid, I love the single lane! I'm sold on the helmet mount after that. I'm going to have to get up there and try that ride before it gets too hot. What camera are you using? Yeah, the single lane was awesome. I am using the VHoldR Contour HD which was passed along to me by http://w...

Re: Short Video
I had the camera mounted on the turn signal stalk. Next time Im going to try the helmet mount. The R-Bikes are a challenge when it comes to finding a place to mount cameras. There are a lot of frame tubes -- which are perfect for using Cardellini clamps -- but the characteristics of horizontally op...

Cool Jobs
I just finished the latest webisode of Peckhammer TV, which is about Dave Preston. If you live in Seattle, and you ride motorcycles, then you probably know this guy. He is a retired English teacher who has managed to create his own dream job in the motorcycle industry. He spends his entire day talki...

Looks great Peckhammer, your work is really looking nice these days! When's your next big production coming out? LOL! No oscars for me... Thanks for the kind words, though. I produce about one piece a month -- almost always about motorcycles -- so be looking for a new one at the end of March. The a...

Re: R1200R PHOT0 GALLERY
I needed some intro/insert shots for a video I am working on, so what better bike to use than my beloved R1200R. Although they look like photos, they are actually rolling video, with in-camera zooming. To get a more dramatic look, I snuck into the local Ducati dealer's covered parking garage early o...

Here is another photos of the Acerbis “Dual Road” handguards: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3578/3401533962_e611306db2.jpg The hand guards go for $144 at Ride West BMW in Seattle, and they will soon have LED inserts that will be available to wire them up as marker lights. The more I see them the mo...

Made in America
We just finished our latest webisode for Peckhammer TV, which is about a Seattle startup who is making aftermarket parts for Adventure Touring bikes such as the R1200GS. One of the benefits of doing what I do is that I get to see stuff before it is released, and I sometimes get to tour production fa...

Re: Looking for LONG LASTING Shocks ?
Race Tech is making a big push in the development of BMW motorcycles. They are currently looking for specific BMW models for suspension R&D. Apparently you might receive a 40% discount off retail pricing if you volunteer your bike for the R&D effort. If you live in the Southern California ar...

Going Nomad
I finally finished editing the Going Nomad side-project that we produced about Mike Lewis. Mike sold his house, his practice and most of his worldly possessions so he could spend the next 5 years riding his R1150GS around the globe. The series consists of six 3 to 4 minute videos about what it takes...

Red Line Shockproof gear oils? Thumbs up or thumbs down?
Has anyone used Red Line Heavy ShockProof synthetic gear oil in their R1200R? I want to change the tranny oil, and Redline is recommending this: Heavy ShockProof Film thickness greater than an SAE 75W250, yet low fluid friction like 75W90 For heavily-loaded racing differentials and transmissions, pr...

Re: back ache and bar risers
Hello every one! OK, I just installed Moto-techniques 513-062M (1” rise/1 & 1/4” setback) bar risers this afternoon. I installed a set of those a couple months ago. Like you, I found no change in handling. I do wish that I could get a slightly longer line for the brake. I have the bars rotated ...
