Re: aftermarket suspension advice wanted

Personally, I wouldn't worry about the weight discrepancy, as you say it's only a tank of fuel. When compared with the forces generated by the bike itself it's a minimal concern. (Unless you're doing track days and the set-up is critical! ;) ) If you carry a passenger its all out of the window anywa...

Re: FRONT BRAKE WAVE WASHERS (RESOLVED PROBLEM)

Nice report, Mick!
What would tick me off is the fact that the service guys are supposed to
know what they're doing and let's be honest, you pay them enough.
I wonder what they would have said if the maladjustment had caused you to
have an accident? You shouldn't have to check their work! :?

Re: New old guy....

Glad you like the look of it. :D The tyres I had fitted are Michelin Pilot Road 2, a tyre I've used on a couple of bikes recently and have had good results in respect of wear vs. grip. They're good in the wet too! Yes, Bob's got it in one: The switch to the left of the heated grip switch is the On/O...

Re: New old guy....

Ol' Jeffers The User Rides is at the top of the R1150R page, to the right of the discussion box........the third choice..... Great pictures, thanks!! You guys have some nice machinery. Good to see the ladies getting involved too. Here are some pics of my 'new' 9 year old 1150R. I think it was used ...

Re: Wheel Valve Stem

Good question! Even Triumph now fit a 90o valve assembly and it makes tyre checks and inflation
very easy and straight forward. However, if the OEM valve is of the rubber type, it would seem to
indicate that the hole in the rim is not tapped for the metal type valve stems.

Re: MRA screens

I have had the smaller Vario (2nd.) screen on two bikes now and generally find the design to be suited to me. I'm only 5'8" so can't comment on what it's like for a taller guy! I have the version, Mod.#44814, that is fitted to the original BMW screen mounting hardware. Here's a link to MRA's wi...

Has all the BMW diagnostic gear and is a nice bloke too!
He's in Pembury near Tunbridge Wells.

Re: New old guy....

And I thought my black 2002 was low mileage at 18,000! I'd get a full dealer service front to back as things can deteriorate in storage. Important to get the brake and clutch fluid changed.Check the tyres carefully for cracking - they do deteriorate with age regardless of usage. I recommend Bridges...

Re: New old guy....

Thanks for the welcome and the exhaust tips, guys....I never considered ceramic coating before, there are many companies in England that can supply this service at reasonable prices so I shall make some enquiries. Can't find any exhaust on the Two Brothers site that is specifically for the 1150R so ...

New old guy....

Hi folks! :) Name's Geoff and I live in the south-east of England. I've been riding bikes for over 40years and have just bought an R1150R. My first BMW! 8) Black, 2002, with, now, just over 8000miles on the clock. Apart from the headers being a little old looking, the bike is immaculate as it had be...
