Re: GS wheels on a Rockster.

Hurray! http://i1054.photobucket.com/albums/s498/trickytree9/image_zpsgyg5m0t0.jpeg Boooo! http://i1054.photobucket.com/albums/s498/trickytree9/image_zpsrsatplkn.jpeg The crossover/left hose is perfect, the right hose is an inch too long. I'll order a 125mm hose online, should be with me by the midd...

Re: GS wheels on a Rockster.

Was half intent on getting this finished this weekend, the gloomy weather wasn't giving me much encouragement but the ltr. of fork oil I was certain was in the garage isn't...so that's that sorted. Suppose it would give me the time to repaint the fork sliders and lower clamp Ferro Blue but I was put...

Re: Engine failure?

I've heard of this before, I'm guessing the tensioner blade is broken. Good chance the engine can be saved but probably only economical to do if your handy with the spanners (or wrenche's if you prefer)

Re: GS wheels on a Rockster.

I'll be honest, when I bough my Rockster I was looking for a GS but couldn't find one in my price range. If I had managed to find one I'd most likely be more than happy with it, but the Rockster with the GS bars and footrests pretty much does it all. Type of riding I do has changed over the years......

Re: GS wheels on a Rockster.

Why? Good question  Partly I'm a incurable tinkerer and partly to be just a bit different.....I do like a nice set of spoked wheels. Also, all being well I'll be looking for a touring bike for next year, most likely a 1150RT so the Rockster can become more of a play thing, and although I don't ...

Re: GS wheels on a Rockster.

Still plodding on. Brembo calipers came yesterday and seem to fit fine...guesswork really as its a miss mash of parts. Getting more tempted to go with the Rockster/1100S fork sliders and fit the 320 discs. Mocked it up and the mudguard clears fine but the rear mounting point doesn't line up so the '...

Yup, my Rockster came with the rear fender cut down......couldn't believe how so much poo I got covered in after a wet ride.

Re: GS wheels on a Rockster.

Yeah I'm looking at going brembo as a couple of the tocks dust seals have swollen and dislodged from the groove. Can find the 32mm seals on there own but not the 36mm ones.....which is what I need.

Re: GS wheels on a Rockster.

Sounds like it is going well so far ? Looks good, please keep us posted as I have though of doing the same thing with my "Roadster" Pleased with things so far, think it will be OK. Potential problem with doing this to a R is that you can't swap the bottom fork clamp out, if your going to ...

Re: GS wheels on a Rockster.

Made up a spacer because I don't need the mechanical speedo drive and bolted the front end together and had a bounce....feels OK, can still touch the ground with both feet although the centre and side stands are now to short. Got a feeling it's gonna work out fine, rear had already been raised so th...

GS wheels on a Rockster.

Trying to use just stock parts so if anything needs replacing Its just a bolt on job. Photo below of the front end is using GS fork sliders. As the Ohlins allows for some adjustment to length I've set that at its shortest, this makes the forks about 15mm longer than the stock Rockster set up. Larger...

Re: 2011 Cam Head Engine Swap Into 2005 R1150r

Ohh I'm not saying it's a good idea particularly........as a one off it wouldn't be particularly 'special' and as a way of keeping a 1150 with a dead motor on the road not particularly cost effective. I've toyed with the idea of building a oilhead dirt bike....bit of a HP2 type thing....but to be ho...

Re: 2011 Cam Head Engine Swap Into 2005 R1150r

I'm all for stuff like this....I've got no problem in doing it just becouse you can, I'm definitely in the 'I can do better than the factory' camp  Any reason for trying it? Very much doubt it's been done before. Is it just the engine or the whole lot? It would be pure luck if the motor matched...

Re: JW Speaker LED Headlight Conversion

Saw these at the Bike Show just before chrimbo....interesting that they have brought out the tilting/cornering version. I'm pretty certain these are the same lights as Harley use and I know of a few folk that have got them and all say the same......they are real bright, proper night into day bright....

Re: Riding below freezing: do-able or suicidal...?

Yup, another all year rider. I've got a long journey to do Saturday so will put the handlebar muffs on for that. Must say I do feel the cold nowadays, more so than just a few years ago. Seriously considering a heated liner. As for the bike, I'm not that big on keeping them pristine...quite happy for...

Mmmmm, interesting, wonder if that would work on my Rockster as I lost the self cancelling indicators when I swapped the stock speedo for the Koso.
