Re: Battery advice

I bought the Odyssey back in May of this year to replace the 5 year old OE unit. I'm very pleased with it. It seems to hold a charge really well. I got mine from these guys and since they are local to me, I picked it up there. The pricing was better than most other places I found. http://www.lmrbatt...

Re: Faulty Fuel Line Connector.

One other thing... be careful to not stress the plastic fuel lines where the rubber hoses attach when you are pulling the old QDs off. They look somewhat fragile to me.

Re: Faulty Fuel Line Connector.

When I changed mine, the hoses were pretty tight on the plastic QDs so you may have to twist them a bit to get them off. As for the fuel tank being full, I take a couple of small pieces of wood and clamp them to fuel line with a Vise Grip. This keeps the fuel from flowing and protects the hose from ...

gearshift lever

Got a question...

Is the gearshift lever on our bike adjustable; up and down? It looks like it is but I don't see anything about it my Clymer manual and I don't want to mess anything up. I have a new pair of boots and it would be nice to adjust it up a bit.

Re: Changing the Air filter

I changed mine the first time by just loosening the tank. Shortly after that I had a fuel disconnect fail; it had cracked. I tend to think I may have stressed it when I tilted the tank forward. Since then I've always changed it by removing the tank. So if you do tilt the tank just be careful with th...

Re: Battery question

Bob,

I got it from this place...

http://www.lmrbatteries.com/odyssey_PC680.html

For some reason, they have it listed at a higher price on the web site. When I called them, they said it would be $120, tax included. Since I live in the area I just drove down so I could check it out.

Re: Battery question

I just picked up my battery and they are including the kit with the right angle hardware now. Not a bad deal for $120. :D

Re: Battery question

MIke,

Thanks for the help. My battery is 5 years old and I have a trip coming up in 3 weeks so I'd rather change it in my garage than in a parking lot somewhere. I've heard a lot of good things about this battery and for the extra $15, I can't pass it up!

Thanks again.

Battery question

I'm sure I know the answer to this question but I just want to be sure... I'm going to pick up an Odyssey battery in the morning and from what I see on this site and others, the PC680 is the one I need. I notice that they also make a PC680MJ (metal jacket) version which I think is for Harleys due to...

I have two tank bags from Big Mak; one is about 3-inches deep and the other is about 5-inches deep. For running around locally, I use one or the other depending on the space I need. When I take trips, they stack so I have lots of storage. I'm very pleased with the setup. :D

It looks like a ball nut from an Acme screw. They'll probably need to know the "lead" of the screw. To find this, measure an inch on the screw and count the number of threads.

Hope this helps :D

Iron Butt ride

I just came back from an 8 day trip where we did an Iron Butt run at the beginning. We actually put two of them together; 1000 miles in 24 hours and 1500 miles in 36 hours. Two of us left Fond Du Lac, WI at 5:30 am and arrived in Charleston, SC at 1:45 am that night. I was on the trusty R and my bud...

I just put on my second set of Pirelli Diablo Stradas this week. I really like them; quiet and good grip in wet and dry. Also, I got decent mileage out of them, about 10000 miles. I looked at the Pilot Roads but have heard and read about them creating noise. My dad has a 2005 RT with the Pilot Roads...

John,

A couple years ago I rode the K1200S and, like you, was amazed at the power and handling of it. It was like an unlimited power curve :!: After I got off it, I just told myself it would get me in trouble because I'd always be running it too fast. Without a doubt, it is a nice bike.

I think another thing that is sometimes changed is the compression ratio to increase the HP on the same engine.

My front brakes always made noise just before I came to a complete stop. It was that slow speed at the end that would cause it. Last summer I put new tires on and had the front pads off; after I reinstalled the pads, the noise stopped :?: I don't know what happened, but they've been quiet ever since...
