Valve adjustment frequency

My '02 R1150R now has 23,000mi. I checked the valves at 16k, and then again today, and they seemed perfect. No adjustment needed. Same for the TB sync.

How often are others finding they actually have to adjust these?

Re: Stubel Airhorn

I also mounted under the tank where the ABS would be. I made a simple bracket from parts in the garage. I was worried that the sound might be muffled... no worries there.. it hurts when I test it!!

Re: Parts/pieces you wish you had, but no one makes

Because of the shape on the back side of the bags, they are a pain to deal with. They pretty much fall over or hang really funny no matter where I put them.

Re: Parts/pieces you wish you had, but no one makes

Don't forget about some kind of wall mounts for the system cases when they are off the bike.. I'd buy those. Also, a mount for a Stebel Nautilus horn would be great. Something that mounts it under the seat on a non ABS bike where the ABS stuff would usually live. I did a very lame job of fabricating...

If a garage was full, or there weren't any other good places to park, I wouldn't hesitate about sharing a spot with another bike. So long as I didn't crowd, obviously.

I can't believe how uptight people get about silly things.

I'd get the '02. The price is fantastic, especially for the mileage. If it is sound and in good shape I'd jump on that.

If you really want to make your naked bike not so naked, the upgrades are cheap.

It's always a good idea to check the spare tire and drain the carbs too.

I cant think of anything to be concerned about on that bike with low miles. It's a great bike and you should be very happy.

You might want to change he fluids and check the tires, but that's about it!

I run mine off the accessory plug all the time. No worries about getting tangled up especially since it pulls right out of there is a problem. The stock length is perfect too.

Well I had to sort it all out in Las Vegas at the last minute. The sport bike rental shop was closed for the day because they were all at the track. I found a new place called Moto Trends that was super helpful on the phone. Right now they have a bunch of harleys, some customs, and a Ninja 650R. I e...

Las Vegas Rental

I have an annual business trip planned to Las Vegas next week, and about four months ago I reserved a rental K1200R from the dealership and extended my trip by a day to ride it... They called me today and said they can no longer rent K bikes, and all they could offer me was a GS, which I have no int...

Yes, I agree, get the 5 - 80 ft lb model, one wrench does it all (it's the one I use). Also, don't bother with inch or ft lbs,.. just use NM's, which is what the maint manual uses anyway.

I have the same one, but in the next size up. By next size, I don't mean moving to 1/2 drive, I mean getting one that goes up to higher value foot lbs/nm's. Yours only goes up to 29 nm, and I'm pretty sure there are some things that get torqued at 30-35 nm. It would probably be good for most items, ...

It is simple, I just did mine yesterday. Short version: There have been many recommendations for a vacuum bleeder (cheap and available at any auto parts store) but I found that it didn't help at all (on my non-ABS bike). All I really needed was a short length of aquarium tubing and a bleeder valve i...
