Re: Just a FYI - pruning users may make you DEACTIVATED!! :)
I'm a lifetime member. Though I haven't posted anything or done any riding since my accident in 2010, I still have my '02 R in the garage but haven't had the time or resources to get around to repairing it. Please don't remove me!

Re: Laid my black beauty down....
I appreciate all of your thoughts and reactions. I have thought a great deal about what happened. Based on how the bike behaved, the front wheel must have locked up when I applied the brake. The only way that could have happened is if the tire had lost all traction with the road. I inspected the fro...

Laid my black beauty down....
Coming home from work last night in heavy traffic on I295, I was in the middle lane cruising at 60-65mph. The traffic directly ahead started slowing down rapidly. I usually have the front brake lever covered with 3 fingers and I gave it a little squeeze. In an instant the front wobbled and pulled al...

Re: R1150R Logo
I was messing around with some images to ideally use them as a small logo on the front of a t-shirt. Feel free to use them as you want. I have the original images which these were made from too. Let me know if you want a copy. http://www.lintners.org/images/r1150r_front_small_logo.jpg Larger color ...

R1150R Logo
Here's a question for the community: I want to put an image or outline of an R1150R on my business card. Staples promises to put it on if I can supply an image. Would any of you know where such an image could be obtained, obviously a non-copywrited image? Or how one could be created from a photo, pe...

Easypass Mount
For those who have wondered where to permanently mount an Easypass transponder, my solution was under the beak. I used three plastic tie downs to secure it. The beak fits over and completely hides it. I tested it today and it works well. I have a picture of the mount, but for some reason I'm not abl...

Re: Clutch Spline Failure Analysis
This is an excellent analysis. The only question I have is what are the signs of impending failure? Is there anything noticeable?

Seafoam - It Works!
My '02 R with 26k on it started pinging recently, especially when turning up the wick. Having seen several postings, I picked up a can of Seafoam. I was skeptical, especially when a product is a multi-purpose gas and oil treatment. I filled up the tank and put half the can in. In less that 20 miles ...

The right grip warmer in my '02 R has stopped working. Anybody got advice on fixing it?

Re: Self wrenching/BMW Warranty
I've done all my own maintenance after 600 miles. My dealer replaced the fuel pump and replaced the rear pinion gear seal with less than 3 weeks left on the warranty and 17,000 miles on the bike.

Re: Purolator Pure One oil filter
I want run a Purolator Pure One oil filter on my ( new to me) 2002 R1150R. I cannot locate a cross reference chart or part number, in order to accomplish this. Is there someone here who might help me out with this spec. I really feel these filters are the best. Any help is appreciated. I use the Pu...

Wheel Truing
Last week I had a new rear tire installed by the local dealership. I noticed a vibration above 60mph so I took it back to be rebalanced. They called and said the wheel was bent and that a new wheel would be $550. I hadn't hit any extraordinary bumps and there was no problem until the new tire was in...

My BMW Journey
My handle is RonBomb. It was given to me by a girl’s father in 1970 after I pulled up to her house on a Honda 150, my first bike. The girl and the family have remained life-long friends. I took her father for a ride that day and he eventually went out and got his own motorcycle. From there I ...

Success
"What tire is on it, and what are you replacing it with?" Replaced an MEZ5 with 9,000+ miles on it with an Avon ST46. Looking at some of the other posts, some of the other members are almost clairvoyent in assuming it was Avon. Had to tap the tire with a ballpeen hammer at 180 degrees oppo...

Re: Rear brake caliper removed?
Did you remove the rear brake caliper from its mounting posts? Yes. I was just reading the rear wheel removal procedure in the manual posted at http://home.mindspring.com/~jabrooks/ According to the manual, removing the brake assembly and the lugs should be all that is needed. I'm going back into t...
